light-weight flywheel and stock clutch?
Does anyone make a light weight flywheel that works with the stock clutch? My car will only have bolt-on's so the stock clutch should be fine as it is brand new. Just want the flywheel... maybe 15lbs or so. Evo Industries said they were making one but it hasn't been put into production yet. The TRD unit may work, but it says on japan-parts that they suggest using the TRD clutch as well.
Any ideas? |

I'm pretty sure the ACT flywheels will work just fine with the stock clutch. The majority of the lightening is on the outer edge and the mating surface looks identical to the stock clutch. You may want to give them a call to find out for sure.
You do realize that you might as well replace the clutch while you're in there right? It's alot of work to get in there. Get the prolight 10lb flywheel and street clutch. It pretty much drives as smooth as stock now that I'm used to it. Revs much faster and grabs better too on hard launches. |

I read that the ACT does NOT fit the stock clutch. That would have been a great option.
I know it is hard to get in there, but my stock clutch only has 4000 miles on it. If I can't find a new flywheel I suppose I will have to buy a clutch kit. The ACT street clutch and 11.5lbs flywheel looks nice. |

Save the stock clutch and flywheel for later when you resell or trade in the car. Maybe you can get some brownie points for having a clutch with only 4000 miles on it.

Exedy makes a light weight flywheel that is designed to work with the stock clutch. Its not on their site but they do make it. I was going to do this but decided on the stage one clutch kit with the light weight flywheel.

I am running the evolution industry light weight flywheel and crank pulley right now and im using the stock clutch. Love the difference it made. I recommend both of their products. Pretty much evolution industry is the only crank pulley that is SFI certified.

I PM'ed you a few times about your flywheel. It sounds perfect. But I have been in touch with Evo several times and they are not in production yet. Not sure what is going on...

I asked him the same question once. It has to do with how the tolerances they are made to. I am sure he will chime in when he can.

Don't have that much time to write it all up but check out the website and it will give you all the details on SFI. |
