Oh, of course verbal agreements mean something on cameras, but only if it favours them in the end. Plus anything said verbally isn't law binding unless under oath. So yes, you just witnessed a salesman lying to your face just to secure a sale. how do you feel?

Your "budget and plan" don't seem to be working for you very well, but I digress.

Enjoy getting your car and making the dealer pay for their mistake. I really do hope it works out in your favor.

The bolded part is correct. It was a lease, not a personally owned car; therefore, no tax credit would be given.

It sounds like you are stuck with the taxes due.

Thanks for the useless thread; would you like more CareBear (TM) responses? Go to General. The best resolution was given to you in post 6. L2P.

If you are completely financially sound and simply don't have $1700 cash, as silly of an idea as it sounds, could you use a credit card and simply pay it off quickly? Of course you'll pay a bit of interest, but it seems like your only other option is small claims court. I that case, your only hope is claiming to be unethically and intentionally misled by the salesman with video evidence; the judge may be on your side, but its no guarantee. "I didn't know" is not a valid reason for suing someone, violating a law, or expecting one to be bent in your favor, and the judge could come down on you for it.

If the credit card idea (and $300-500 payments for several months) is simply not feasible, then maybe buying a brand new car is a bit more of a financial strain that you think.

On second thought, why were you recording this in the first place? That sounds a little suspicious. Not trying to be accusatory, just playing devils advocate to understand the situation.

I would like helpful suggestions or no comments at all. Being an ass and making unnecessary comments Is just uncalled for I have a crappy situation due to someone else's mistake and I am looking for the best possible solution. I realize that I am probably just going to end up paying it and going on With my day but any helpful suggestions are greatly appreciated. I guess I assumed fellow enthusiast like myself would understand but then I get alot of unnecessary trolling like this. I am rather disappointed in the community it's not paying taxes on my new car that I have an issue with. The issue I have is the fact that due to a scion dealership and a so called "professional" rep of there's not knowing how to do his job correctly I am having to deal with an unexpected expense and I feel that it is wrong.

This is why you read EVERYTHING in the paperwork before you sign it. The guy at the dealership could of have told you it comes with a monkey that knowns how to fix the car if it breaks... But if it wasn't in the paperwork and you signed it.... Well shit you don't get the cool monkey.
