My 1:10 Mini Me - Rebuild Finished!

Update,
I didn't sleep because I was working on this spoiler. I took a nap around 9:15am and woke up around 1:30pm. I'm off to Home Depot (wire for door lights) and Radioshack (side marker LED bulbs and resistor.)

Under the shell is a lightly modified TT-01E. I would not recommend the RTR for two reasons. (1) The car is not desirable in its RTR state. You need to start from scratch to install the essential parts. (2) I honestly do not know what kind of transmitter you get. You end up spending less with your own setup than you would if you bought the RTR and switched stuff.

Essential upgrades:
- bearings (stock comes with these plastic bushings...what )
- aluminum drivshaft
I also have adjustable upper arms, but they aren't necessary. I do want some decent shocks though.

Load out:
- stock brushed motor (plenty for drifting)
- stock ESC
- Spektrum SR200 Receiver with a Dx2e transmitter
- Turnigy 3600mah 2S 30-40C discharge.
- HPI T-Drift Tires

Want:
- 4300kv-5000kv 4 pole Brushless 3650 Inrunner
- appropriate brushless ESC
- Real oil dampened shocks
- lower offset (which I think is actually higher offset in the RC world) wheels that match what I'll be putting on the real thing.

This will be my show build. It will only be driven if the ground is near free of debri (sand, rocks, parking stops, curbs...etc). I had to cut my old body to get the spoiler off, but I'll patch that up to the best of my abilities. The original plan was to use that one as a beater.

The problem is that Tamiya is so generous, they provide the bodies with the mounting holes already cut/drilled out. Oh well though. I'll be velcroing it.

Nice list of parts. They should be readily available at your local hobby shops or online. I see you have a brushed motor but want a brushless esc, make sure the BL esc is backward compatible to a brushed motor. Check out rctech.com classifieds for parts, motors, esc, etc.

Please post a picture of the chassis without the body. Also, motors are not rated like that anymore. They are rated by Stator turns of wire. The motor in the car picture was a 13.5. The lower the number the faster the motor. The car in my picture has more motor than you could ever use without gearing down a ton.

As far as I'm aware, there is no brushless ESC that is capable of running a brushed motor.

I'm fully aware of how motors are rated. A 4 pole bl motor has much more torque than a 2 pole bl motor.


I've been building and flying RC planes, boats, hovercraft, and more for years. I'm in no way new to this.

My 5" class fiberglass race boat. It's new and I haven't had much time to get it going.

My 32" beater Slick turned into a night flyer.

I micro EDF to mass awareness and made nano class jets possible. The smallest jet in the world (6" I believe) has my ducted fans. He is now working on a 4.5" version of his A10.


My precision flyer that lasted one day. What a fun day that was.

MY Zipper. 6.7" wingspan ogival delta design made purely for speed. I still haven't maidened it.

I've never worked with rc clutches before. I swapped a Castle 5700kv into a friend's Traxxas Slash. The clutch doesn't hold though. It did this on the stock motor too. Any ideas?

Here are the chassis pics. The receiver sits on top of the steering servo. I'm repairing the Slash in the background for a friend and put the receiver in it.

time to upgrade clutch.. could be worn out or adjusted wrong/too tight..

clean the slipper plates and check the pads.. if you hold the rear wheels and give it power the fron should push up slightly and adjust to how you drive.. i only race mine on indoor track no basher

I'll be at Snowbirds in Orlando with 700 of my closest friends. Thank god for sponsors, I could never justify the cost if I had to pay myself.

Full shocks are easy for that chassis. HPI, Tamiya, Associated and a bunch of others make them. Motor gearing is a little more difficult with the limited adjust-ability of the kit. For a speedo, Novak and Tekin make mid priced ones but they are all brushless now.
