They look like the same POS 2-piston front/1-piston rears that were stock on my Evo IV.
Yea, thats what I thought the 4pot didnt make it for the production cut.

How much benefit do you think they'll actually give you for the price on a street car where 90% of these cars will stay?

I will have no qualms running those brakes hard on the track. Spec series will likely REQUIRE stock brakes. If they are the same brake parts that stop pig WRXs all day long then they are already more than enough for this lighter, lower powered car.
100% concur with your statement.

The 4 pots are probably the TRD BBK. in the brochure there is mention of 18" wheels that are compatible with the monoblocks. we now have pics of 18" wheels from the FT II concept, on michelin pilot super sports no less! TONS of space for the 4 pots...

I am going to agree w/ what others are "thinking" about digging into the Subaru/WRX/STi parts bin and see what comes out

Hello Kitty knows best. Plain is the way to go. I heard that when Hello Kitty is done racing and takes her helmet off her hair is always purrfect.

Lucky me.. I happen to have a spare set of STi Brembo calipers and 5x100 hubs off 04 STi that can try out when I get the car.

You wouldn't use the hubs.. but the calipers would likely bolt on, but may need an adapter. What size rotors did the 04 STi have?

I am thinking adapter as well

It's just like the IS300 guys fitting Supra/LS brakes on with just simple parts:

Ok so it looks like a 12.7"x1.2" rotor for the 04 STi, height of 2.08" so a little less than an inch hat height past the rotor face.

2011 WRX (assuming exact same brake setup for BRZ) shows a 11.55"x0.945" with a height of 2.23".

So, that's pretty close to were you may just need 04 STi rotors and calipers. I'm sure people at NASIOC have already done this though so they would know.

At worse you may need to either user spacers on the caliper, or behind the rotor, or trim the caliper or spindle.. it'll all depend on where the caliper sits when bolted to a WRX/BRZ spindle.

Also if you replace the fronts you may want to run the 12.4" rears as well, either with the stock caliper on an adapter or the STI caliper (but I'd guess that would still need an adapter) depending on the resultant brake bias from the additional leverage up front.

The fronts may need an adapter too unless the spindle was the same between the STi and WRX. I don't know subarus enough to know.

Some info from a WRX Forum:

Quote:
All 04-07 STI front Brembos will bolt right up to the front of any 02-07 WRX. Just purchase 04 STI rotors so the lug pattern will match.

The rears are more complicated.

02-05 WRX will require the adapter bracket, readily available from Kartboy to use brembos on the rear.
06-07 WRX requires nothing, the calipers will bolt right up.

regardless, all WRXs need WRX adapter rotors to ensure the emergency brake works properly. DBA is currently the only manufacturer that makes them. The part number is DBA 2657.

There are other options like "extended" brake shoes, or simply using stock 04 STI rear rotors.... neither would be the correct or "smart" way to do it though. That certainly doesn't mean it hasn't been done though.

All 4 dust shields will need to be removed/drilled out on all 02-07 WRXs to accomodate brembos.

The 06-07 WRX Brake lines will work on Brembos - I'm not sure if earlier year WRXs are interchangeable though - do your research.
So based on that, assuming BRZ spindles are the same as 06-07 WRX it should bolt up for the front.. the reats are worse because the parking brake is a drum instead of using the caliper since they are fixed calipers.

Just replacing the front could screw up the bias and could actually result in unfavorable results. Fine if you are just looking for cooler looking brakes on the street though.
