Did you feel that you gain something after install the inlet tube?
I did see other similar product dyno as below.
Thanks.

Just installed this intake and took my car for a 10 minute drive, absolutely loving it!

There's a definite power increase throughout the range, but the biggest increase is up top. Throttle response is slightly improved down low, driveability is much better so when I'm in 4th@60km/h and give it a bootful it picks up faster than before.

The intake looks great in the engine bay, almost looks like it would be stock but the red intake pipe and red TRD lettering give it a subtle look - I wasn't looking forward to the red intake pipe but it's much better looking in person.

One thing I did that differed from the instructions was instead of capping off the tube connected to the cabin sound charger, I pulled that tube off and just capped the sound charger itself - much cleaner

Verdict: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Next on the list: I've already paid for a secret new UEL header from a well-known FT86CLUB vendor, I'll be one of the first on the list since it hasn't even been announced yet, they're finalising the design and production by the end of this week!

Will that be theissue or the problem?

The TRD instructions suggest the K&N kit to clean the filter, so I would suggest following those directions...

he was a club vendor for FT86 Vancouver, so when a member asked to buy it he sold it right away to me! maybe he'll get another one soon and get a dyno up!

With the stock intake or with a panel filter, the acceleration improves at lower rpm especially 1-4k range but you won't have the pull like the after market intakes.

The first time I saw the TRD intake on the Scion celebrity race car, that design really get my attention. Bigger air box increasing intake volume, this intake will improve throttle response and power. I don't think it will make as much power as a aftermarket box up cone filter, however, throttle response SHOULD be unbeatable.

Since no one has dyno the TRD intake, it's too early to judge if it's good or bad. So I will be dynoing this unit and plus a DRIFT OFFICE tune along with it.

Here's are some pics for the intake :

I will keep you update how the install and dyno goes.

They only had one of these and it was the one on their car?!
Well maybe you should get a dyno then
In the meantime what is your butt dyno verdict?

TRD CAI

Don't have too many miles on it so far but throttle response seems better and pull above 3.5K is much better. I don't miss losing the sound tube and it makes the engine compartment look almost roomy with the empty space. No downside to replacing it.
I was an early adopter of the TRD airbox and am pleased with the result. I installed at 5K miles and was averaging about 28-30 mpg with the stock for the first 5K. I expect to take a small hit in fuel economy with the TRD ( no free lunch, lads). I'm pretty sure Subaru and Toyota designed the original intake as a compromise between fuel economy and performance; there's a reason they're running 0W20 in the crankcase and it isn't for durability. I agree that the drivability is definately improved with the TRD and the sound tube was just plain dumb.
