I can hear the SC winding up when I drive aggressively (windows up). when the windows are down, you can really hear it. My aunt was outside when I got on the throttle down the road and she said it sounds like a jet engine winding up.

This may sound absurd but my only grip about the kit is, it deletes the sound tube.

Nice. What kind of head work and do you have a link to a dyno?

I believe he is stock heads.

He's one of the first Visconti tuned turbo cars.

New update from Gem.

Quote:
I've got some news

thanks to the header begging me to squeeze more power out of it, I'm wrapping up the tuning of wastegate controller duty cycles at different altitudes. The car drives awesome, theres just no power dip and it pulls to 7000 in all gears, a bit past 7000 in 2nd keeps you 'well seated'. I am trying to get it to run as well at 7000 feet as at 1000 feet

This is mostly in thanks to the wastegate project with Perrin which has been a whopping success and I will baseline the car BEFORE adding WMI, so it will be a redo of my last dyno day that got screwed up by a boost leak etc-in about a week I should have that dyno redone. Creating tables for duty cycles has been a several week ongoing task that precludes any further 'work' since that mishap

Then I'm officially ready to share my next project for June: Factory ECU driven Intrinsically fail-safed WMI tuned, a project thats ecutek and Perrin are making happen.

raising 91 to feel like 93 on both track and dyno using WMI thats factory ecu driven, so boost, timing, everything is run with ecutek, no need for an aem failsafe, ebcs pro works off ecu, and future potential for e85 integration remains one of my intents, and the wmi offers IAT cooling and protection, plus a few ponies

There is a ongoing project about to go into test in weeks ahead using
an Ecutek/Perrin/Howerton joint effort, where factory ECU is controlling WMI

Parts are shipping as we speak, I appreciate all the posts citing interest and am pleased to share my work. I have no intention on returning to the forum as a member, but rest assured I am online reading everyone posts daily. For the record MPG with 3.48 pulley was better than 26.5, with 3.33 was around 25, with 2.85" is 22MPG driving it hard.

Thanks for your interest and support
-Gem

Oh gem, wmi doesn't raise your 91 to 93. It moves it well past 93. And practically no one will want the hassle and cost of running that.

Can we just get some consistent test result? Please?

I dont think he was implying that WMI will raise the octane level to 93 but rather allow him to get timing where the rest of the country would be able to with readily available 93 octane. Of course running WMI would allow for much more aggressive timing but knowing Gem he is going conservative and just trying to obtain similar results that someone with access to better fuel would see. WMI is probably one of the best alternatives to combat our climate and fuel availability here in the pacific southwest. I can tell you I have been using it for almost 15 years and I have never looked back.

I may just be harping over terminology but I would argue that he will still need a failsafe trigger device such as the Aquamist DDS3 (http://www.aquamist.co.uk/press/DDS3-v8-web.pdf) or the AEM WMI failsafe gauge.

Even if the Ecu handles the map switch, it still needs to be told to switchmaps, which is the function both the DDS3 or AEMWMIG. That is unless they are going to integrate a flow sensor in with the stock ecu.

He's looking for the highest numbers to possibly post. No where in any of my many conversations with him, did he mention anything about being conservative. He wants the numbers. That's why he's running a very small pulley and wastegated setup with WMI (which DOES provide knock resistance well beyond 93 octane).

Do you know any of his new numbers lately?

He's guessing that he's at 270 because he was having the leak on his last dyno. When he gets new numbers I will post them up.
