Two things:

  • Did you hold the piston rod with allen wrench solid while you torqued the center nut?
  • Did you re-torque all your control arms and end link bolts to factory specs?
I have a clunk from the rear on stock suspension over strange dips as well when the car is "cold" sounds like a clunk, but wondering if it is the rear deck or sway bar. Cant ever tell, but I retorqued everything, every bolt and I still get it. So I am done trying to figure it out.

Any issues with the stock shocks with springs? the 3g wrx's always tended to blow shocks after putting in new springs....how much drop are the yellows w/ stock shocks?

Thanks.

The yellows have a 20mm drop. The springs are said to work pretty well with the stock shocks. And since the drop isn't too low there shouldn't be a huge compromise in the life of the shock. But in reality only time will tell how long it will take.

So I put the Go-pro down low so we could hear the sound. You can hear it clear as day.

Not sure if that sound is coming from the suspension....your hardly moving...but then again I cannot see what your rolling off/over w/ your rear wheels. Have you done any mods to drive train/rear diff mounts/bushings...things of that sort?

If you're stationary, and turn the wheel full lock to the right then to the left, do you hear any noises?

I heard that pop once this morning. Doing it only on the drivers side. And only once. After the first pop its smooth as butter. Had the wife get in the car so I could look under the hood close. Wondering if we should try the conical washer from the gd imprezza.

I sprayed WD-40 through the tops of the bearings and the squeak/creak immediately went away, however, i'm still getting quite a bit of popping when turning the wheel from lock to lock.

If your Koni’s didn’t come w/ the conical washer then this is likely your issue or something you should address now as it might be down the rd. They will send you a set for free if you purchased before they were included.

??? The washer is welded to the OEM upper spring perch. What you talkin' bout? I'd have seen conical washers if they were included...but then again everything about my Koni install has been FUBAR.

OH the f*@#ing shaft collars? One of mine went on beautifully, the other needed to be filed down on the inside because it had some machining burrs that were getting caught on the threads of the piston.
