As far as oiling and so on just buy maf/electronic cleaner and clean it when you clean the filter and don't soak it in oil. Follow instructions.

FWIW, mine looked clean too, but after spraying the maf sensor cleaner on it, it was obvious that it it was flushing some oil out of it. I'd give it a try even if it looks clean.

@PumaUK7 I wouldn't bother with a reset, I didn't when I did mine.

I installed my K&N Filter last week and didn't reset ECU either. i didn't want to re-setup radio. I had CAI on previous cars and never had filter only. so, i barely feel between OEM vs K&N Filter. maybe ECU is not re-learned new filter yet. i will find out more later.

Is the TRD drop in washable? If yes, where can I find the cleaner and oil for it?

The MAF has its own cleaning cycle.. Where it heats up the sensor wire to keep it clean from debris and residue.. Unless this car is different or things have changed recently.. That's how they are designed to work and maintain their accuracy..

Lol.. Memory served me correctly.. For a change..
"A hot wire burn-off cleaning circuit is employed on some of these sensors. A burn-off relay applies a high current through the platinum hot wire after the vehicle is turned off for a second or so, thereby burning or vaporizing any contaminants that have stuck to the platinum hot wire element." If it is the TRD USA one, then yes. As per the instructions that came with my TRD intake, you can use the K&N cleaning/oiling kit on their filters. I realize you are asking about the TRD filter for the stock airbox, but it is the same type of filter. You can also get a cleaning/oiling kit from your dealer, but the K&N kit should be easy to find and on the shelf at just about any auto parts supplier.

Sorry for the necro, but I have a question. At the beginning of this thread, it said the K&N Filter number was 33-2552. I'm going to a performance parts store this evening to pick up some Motul Gear 300, and I figure I might as well pick up an air filter while I'm there.
I put 2013 Scion FR-S into their website, but the model number that came up was 33-2300. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/kn...ion/model/fr-s A search on their site for 33-2552 reveals nothing. Is 33-2300 the wrong part, or is it the same thing? It looks the same, but I don't know the difference. For reference: Brand:K&N Manufacturer's Part Number:33-2300 Part Type:Air Filter Elements Product Line:K&N Washable Lifetime Performance Air Filters Summit Racing Part Number:KNN-33-2300 UPC:024844111395 Air Filter Style:Panel Length (in):11.375 in. Width (in):5.875 in. Height (in):1.063 in. Filter Material:Cotton gauze Filter Color:Red EDIT: Original post was 33-2252, not 33-2552, my apologies. Looking at the official K&N site shows 33-2300 as the one for the FR-S, and 33-2252 as being for 2010 and older Toyota's, so I'm gonna just roll with the 33-2300.
