Our other Fr-s made 162whp base and with a K&N drop in filter it made 165whp a gain of 3whp for under $50.00 isn't bad at all

Only if don't on plan on buying an intake. They are actually cheaper over the life of the car vs. stock paper filters since they are reusable. Proper cleaning and oiling are necessary of course.

If you go to http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/ he says that K&N filters while flowing freely do a very poor job of filtering.

After a quick read I don't recall reading that? My impression was that there wasn't a great deal of difference in the filtration.

Amazon has it for $36.33
Just checked the K & N website. The correct part number is 33-2300

I like my K&N drop in for the extra sound. Any extra HP is just gravy on top.

If you want a nice alternative to the K&N check out the Perrin version. I bought it and it is really good for about the same price as the K&N.

The Perrin filter are made out of foam, as it will slowly disintegrate after time and it goes into your intake system.

Thank you for that info, now Perrin is not remotely on my radar anymore. I know K&N works well I have one in my Nissan. I also used one on my older car.

All that said, I agree with your last statement that you won't really notice any real power gains without installing decent parts and tuning for your parts and your car specifically.

As for re-oiling and all that nonsense, just buy another high end filter and throw the old one away. The re-oil kit is going to cost you about $15 to $20 already. Then add in your time to do it. And, if it's your only filter, you shouldn't drive without it in the car, so you'll have to wait while it dries and is ready for re-installation. Time alone, it is not worth it for me.

I will probably buy the TRD filter as the K&N's do come with a little too much oil for my liking. However, if the oil is fowling the MAF, just take it out and spray some electronics cleaner to fix the problem when you switch back to a better filter.

Some cars have a noticeable power increase with the drop in K&N. Others not so much. It depends on the car/engine.

I have the K&N Panel, love it. Deleted the sound tube at the same time. Car just feels happier to me. Im going for an overall OEM+ theme so this fits right in.

Yes that a scientific measuring term, deal with it.
