Anyone know where the best place is to get the K&N drop in filter, money wise?

I've had my typhoon on for a couple thousand miles now. I did get a CEL for "bank 1 running lean", on examination, it turned out that i hadn't screwed the vacuum line in all the way. I think on mine i got it tight(still some threads showing though), then when it heat cycled a few times it loosened up a little so i could make the last couple rotations, now it sits flush.

I don't know that any intake is worth $300+. I'd much rather build my own setup.

I've had mine on for a good thousand miles now. I feel like as long as you follow the instructions and make sure everything is secured then you'll never get a CEL. Maybe all intakes run a risk of CEL idk. And in my opinion, I feel like this intake makes the most dramatic sound difference. Seems louder than the others.

I have a unichip. However, its not tuned for any mods. I'm still waiting for their k&n intake tune to be released. '

You should just order it online lol. They had a special going on to where it was like 300 something? And took less than a week to get to my house. Haha.

Resurrecting the thread!
Installed K&N Typhoon blah, blah, blah. Ran ok for a while with no CEL. About a few weeks later it appeared. P0171 Bank 1: Too lean, along with some other related codes P1171 P, and P1171. Convinced dealer to replace high pressure fuel pump due to codes and chirping (700.00 USD). Two days later, CEL returned. Took it in for diagnostic once more, was told a sensor is faulty (MAF, High, Low?) and a replacement was ordered (250.00 for MAF) luckily all under warranty. Took MAF off and noticed pink oily build up on the seal, and the plastic housing for the MAF sensor was oily. Blasted it with MAF sensor cleaner (Auto part store). We shall see what happens this afternoon during my bumper to bumper (10/20 mile) commute.

NOTE:
My tuner (I haven't applied the tune yet, 200 miles to go before warranty expires), mechanic, and the dealership have ALL asked me to put the OEM intake hardware back on and just use the K&N drop in, or OEM paper filter instead. I DON"T SEE WHY.

Called K&N. "Thanks for calling with that information, keep us posted." In other words, they could care less.

Will report back!
