When we bought another wing and put it on, the stability was vastly increased. It felt perfectly planted and solid at highway speeds, just like before the incident.

So, what I'm saying is, perhaps this wing on the AS1 will vastly improve regular highway driving and not just help you out on the track.

I suppose we will have to wait until we actually get our hands on the car to how functional the wing is.
I just dont see 80-90 mph as regular highway driving. Sorry. And completely agree at those speeds the spoiler does become functional and produce downforce. But like I said 80-90 mph is something I dont consider to be regular highway driving.

Always been a gearhead since young, and my dream cars growing up were Ferrari's and Lambos...they all had big spoilers. So for me, fast cars and spoilers go hand in hand; I automatically associate them with each other. The top-of-the-line Viper ACR has a big wing. If I ever get an Evo or STi, couldn't imagine them without the huge spoiler, that's just how they're supposed to look.

Granted, some cars look awesome with them, some don't. Would NEVER put a spoiler on any M3, think they look tacky. In fact, most 4 door sports sedans look stupid with them (except Evo and STi, lol).

In this case, I'm with the camp that says the FR-S looks 'incomplete' without the kit. The spoiler looks awesome on it.
Except this isnt a "fast" car. Hey but if you like it on the frs more power to you. Youre comparing this car to ferraris and lambos though... much of a power difference? I would say the extra needed downforce on those cars are a tad bit more needed than it would be on a 200hp car.

Texas speed limit bumped up to 80mph.

If you go to the track, that big wing is really useful for 200hp car, especially for a car this light.

Ours say 65 within the city too, it's just everyone else drives a lot faster then what's posted.

O, and Houstonians average 80-90 mph as regular highway driving, so a spoiler is very useful.

Factory spoilers rarely produce downforce. Downforce=Drag=Lower MPG. More on this in a second.

I highly doubt it. The car is light, not very powerful and is set up to handle quite nicely. These cars are rarely going to see cornering speeds in which a spoiler like this, which in all likelihood only reduces lift, will matter at all.

I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that this one is functional. I would like to think so for the sake of the car.

btw LSX your posts kick butt.

If I can't get this body kit/spoiler then I'm buying a WRX STi. I don't like the stock look of the FRS.

Bro, if you have the 40k for an STi, then why don't you pay ~21k for an FRS and spend the 19k in mods? That way you get looks and performance!

I'm sure within a month of the release, that wing will be all over ebay. And possibly the body kit too.

Ferraris's bodies are very aerodynamic, which car make them reach high speed without spoiler. Race version of Ferrari still need wing and spoiler to achieve better top speed.

You're right. most factory spoilers are produced to achieve less drag and higher MPG, but there are some exceptional.

I highly doubt it too when a company make a sportier version with wing, but it doesn't give a functional wing.
