For me, I want this car to stay almost completely stock. The only modification I have in mind is removing the rear seats as, in my experience of 2+2 sports cars they're pointless and only add unnecessary weight. I may also fit high end speakers because I'm a sound geek, but subtly and no massive subwoofers.
In 20 years I want people to love my untouched ft86 that looks just as it did the day it left the showroom, but also I don't want to ruin Toyota's work to make this a pure driver's car by changing anything... What about everyone else though? What mods, if any, do you have in mind? |

I'm sure I will mod it as I do with every car I own. Heck, even with my hyundai I threw on a SRA for shits and giggles. I'm sure I'll be focusing on performance and gaining HP, I think the suspension is going to be great right out of the gate as this is supposed to handle really well so I don't think I'll mess with that for a while unless I think it's really required. Aesthetics-I'll have to see what the car looks like before I can pass judgement on that

I'm a big fan of molestation. (I hope no one takes this quote out of context)
My first mods would be regarding the wheels. Depending on what the OEM body kit is like, I'd probably get some 18" wheels (the FR-S concept just looked so spectacular with those big wheels I'd want to get close), drop it with some coilovers and get as flush a look as possible (notice, not "hellaflush" or anything). After that I might look at some lighting modifications like HID kits or something, and then I'd focus on performance.

Lol Anyways I'd mod it lightly. Tint. Rims. HID (if not stock). Change Rear Wing if necessary. Change go racing clutch. And possibly Short shifter. Also.. I believe there has been a couple threads about this.....

My first act of molestation is going to be transplanting the pair of 12" subs from my impala. Then i'm gonna take off all of the badges, and follow that with gnarly paint job. If finances are all in order, i may spring for pearlescent. Then on week 2... lol.

Sorry.
As for me, Bridgestone Potenza Re11s, intake, catback and headers, maybe an ecu tune...

If I am going to be driving the piss out of this car I am going to want to better equip it to support said driving. That, and I do not see the sacrilege in modding a ~$20k Toyobaru.

Honestly it'll depend on how the car is stock. I will likely swap to a louder intake so I can hear it approach redline with a helmet on. A second set of wheels for track/autocross tires would be on order likely as soon as I have a date that I'll be able to pickup the car.
Outside of that I'd want to wait and see. This is a new engine and completely new ECU, so there won't be much in the way of ECU tuning for awhile I'd guess (I'm not sure if any standalones even support the D4S system?). It'll take some time and experimentation to figure out which intakes, exhausts, headers, etc work the best as well. It'll also take some time for any decently tuned threaded body coilover (I'm sure the normal junk will hit the market soon, but I want a system that's had some R&D, not just retooling the same crap damper used for other stuff and selling it with x spring rates..). Short term I'd probably get some ground controls and Konis so I can change rates and have them revalved easily enough. Regardless, until I get some track time in the car I won't make any suspension changes.

or ![]() LOL, how many of these threads are there now? But, well it is always fun. So here is what I am doing first: -Pioneer multimedia station with 8 loudspeekers, digital amplifier and subwoofer -Volk Racing CE28N 17" rims (5x114 conversion if needed) -Nitto NT05 245/40/17 tires -AP-Racing brakes -Moton coilovers -KN intake system -Invidia exhaust system -Piaa xenon bulbs and LED bulbs in and out -SPT short shifter, aluminium racing pedals and dead pedal, front and rear strut bars, brakeducts (foglights delete) -Cosworth engine kit (bored and stroked with forged pistons, new ECU and dry sump lubrication) -Vorsteiner CF roof, front lip and rear diffusor -window tint rear and sides -taillights tinted dark red and headlights tinted light blue Then the car gets even more hard-core: -full stripp down -STI widebody kit -CF doors, hood, trunk, painted in body color -wing and flaps -Recaro Pole Position seats -Hansa 6 point belt -Sparco steering wheel, shift knob, pedals and dead pedal -full roll cage -WRX Cosworth Turbo 1.6l Flat4 with 400 PS swap with anti-lag -Volk TE37SL center-lock 17" rims -Nitto NT01 265/40/17 tires all round Well, that is a lot of ca$h. For now, when I get the car, first mod will be WHEELSPACERS and probably a drop if needed. |

I am going to TRY (and i stress "try") to keep it unmolested, with that being said, I will go for every TRD mod available from the dealership on the car. I have my supra to waste my money on modding. But im sure the "mod bug" will eventually catch up with me.
I can almost guarentee I will be putting wheels on it thought. I can see it looking pretty sexy with some work meisters. |

I would keep mine mostly stock. Here are the must have mods for every car I own:
Must be stanced: that means a nice drop with some tasteful wheels Very dark tints intake and exhaust, because I like hearing the engine, especially boxers That's it, everything else will be saving for maintaining the car as mint as possible. I'm planning to keep this thing forever. I just hope that it can effectively replace the Prelude I currently own |

Other than adding more power to make it around 300 hp I wouldn't do much of anything. Maybe some brake modifications if they're not strong enough for weekend track events but that's about it.
