I guess it's all preference - I love the look of the big spoilers on the m3 GTS, WRX STi, Evo X, Supra IV, 911 GT3 RS
Like G-Daddy, I've grown up looking at stuff like this and i suppose personally its become engraved within me that the cool cars have wings like this :P I do however think that anything bigger than a lip spoiler on a FWD is god awful But that may just be me :P

This wing also seems to be curved higher in the middle so it probably won't block your view.

only way i could buy it.
The wing topic: merely preference. I like the look as it flows with the car. Some people think wings never flow well. |

I will most likely buy the car without it. Do some modifications. See if I still like the wing (after seeing it on other cars) and then buy it.

That spoiler is so ridiculous. Doesn't get much more teeny than that. In a word: Tasteless.
Without all the added plastics it looks ok. Probably even better in flesh, maybe needs 18" wheels. Waiting for a price, not going to change a TT easely...

A while back, my brother managed to slide his 05 STi into a tree while backing out of an iced up driveway (lol, don't ask). It split his wing down the middle and we had to remove it. A couple of weeks later, we were on the highway and the car felt much less stable. At 80-90mph the car was a little shaky and it didn't feel planted. When we bought another wing and put it on, the stability was vastly increased. It felt perfectly planted and solid at highway speeds, just like before the incident.
So, what I'm saying is, perhaps this wing on the AS1 will vastly improve regular highway driving and not just help you out on the track. I suppose we will have to wait until we actually get our hands on the car to how functional the wing is.

If the "spoiler" is actually a wing aka meant for pushing the car down at the cost of drag, then I don't want it. Small spoilers can improve stability at little or no cost to drag by modifying airflow over the rear downsloping part of the car.

I don't really understand aerodynamics that well but I think a trunk spoiler can do what I described as well.

Yes. It can, but I believe trunk lip has minimal impact on aerodynamics, very minimal in comparison to big wing. It's more look than functionality. Roof spoiler in other hand, has more impact on aerodynamics than trunk lip. Unless you go duck tail, you don't have to bother getting a lip spoiler for functionality.
