What does filtermag do?
drain plug = few seconds
fumoto = 1 second
filtermag = magnet for filter. traps metal particles in oil inside your filter.

Fumoto by far. Freaking awesome idea. I've had one on most of my cars. It makes oil changes so easy. No need to jack up the car.

The reasons to buy the fumato are that after initial install the likelihood of stripping drain threads is eliminated and the oil change is clean and simple. Just keep your hand behind the valve and open the lever. You won't get oil all over your hands and you won't have to fish the drain plug out of the oil.

Now granted I am thin, almost 6ft2in, and stock suspension. It was still easy to reach. Will make oil changes a breeze, just snap on white connector/hose and twist...drain into oil pan.
I was wondering about that, good to know. So long as I can get an oil pan under it I'll be set.

Fumoto plus FilterMag is the best of both worlds.

The chance of getting ferrous material stuck to a magnet on your drain plug that hasn't been filtered already is so slim I don't know where to begin. And you can just stick a rare earth magnet to your filter if you're that worried.

Magnets for oil systems may as well be snake oil magnets when it comes to modern engines. Especially if they're $35.

As for Fumotos, I have one on my Subaru outback, and draining straight into a jug saves a lot more than 15 seconds, and leaves me with almost no cleanup compared to a regular oil change.

Edit: This oil analysis thread here explains it perfectly. The iron and nickel units are a total of 22 parts per million during the break-in period, and are reduced to almost nothing after the 2nd and 3rd oil change. Magnets are a total waste of money.

2nd edit: Like Fumoto's facebook page and register on their site, they publish 5% off coupons there at least twice a month.

The mag I got from Jegs, and the valve from quickoildrainvalve.com or something similar, I don't remember.

Alright so next question, which Fumoto Valve is everyone using on their car? I tried to install the one with the long nipple, but it stuck out too much for comfort, and I didn't want it getting ripped off. Need to order a replacement for my next oil change, so which one fits?
