Pros I've seen on prepped tracks with stock bikes run low 2's.. Problem is keeping the wheel down The guy that raced the sport bike.. It was a 250 lol.. Even my pops big ol gold wing would embarrass this car in every acceleration test |

. It just wasn't a high handle bar bike and that's all I was meaning, sure he could have been shitty driver, sure it could have been a ninja 250. But, what difference does it make.... it happened for whatever reason and if you think some guy hammering it, would not pass me if he could, well ......BS .My point was, this car, in its power range, has plenty umpfff for day to day driving, especially in the sidewinder turns. I will find out this weekend at "Tail of Dragon" road. Anyone care to join me, probably 5-6 hopeful less traffic on a Monday.

Sorry but I don't feel this at all. When I get in my mustang I feel like I'm in a rocket ship, and I only have the 305HP V6. This car is fun, but it's not fast from 0 nor is it fast while in motion compared to similarly priced cars.

When did I quote you, I quoted tyler just to give him some info, I was just sharing it.. But I'm sure on my 750 I wouldn't even have to down shift from 6th to beat the FRS in any gear from any speed.. I believe you, my older car was able to stay with a 250... Just making sure you realized it was a sport bike before you start bragging to your friends that you dusted a busa or something lol

I agree with you OP. I mostly feel very confident with the ability of this car when I'm really driving it (above 4k rpms). Sometimes it does feel a little low on power, but never so much that it feels sluggish or boring.
True, except for the fact 5th & 6th are both overdrives so that's pretty much your top speed unless your going downhill with some wind to push you maybe... |

If you're above the torque dip (4500 rpm), this car is roughly on par with any other car running low 6's 0-60 and high 14's quarter. Basically Mini Cooper S's, GTI's, Civic SI's, etc. Not particularly fast, but I guess you could say not slow either.
If you're in or below the torque dip, you will get destroyed by all the turbo 4 cyls, which have midrange torque mountains -- basically the inverse torque curve of the FRS. You really have to be in the lowest gear possible to make use of all 200 hp.

There is a long list of everyday cars that will run from an FRS, both at a stop and in motion... but their is a longer list of cars that the FRS can pull on.
In the car world it is not slow. In the performance car world... yeah. |

TL;DR You don't understand how gear ratios and torque application work therefore please do not attempt to educate others on such things. |

did I just read that a motorcycle is slower than a car? That's absurd.

I'm no professional, but I know with my auto I'd downshift once to 5th floor it and the revs climb veryyyyyy slowwwwllllyyyy. I'd have to downshift twice just to pass on the highway, which is a little ridiculous IMO. Now if this car had more power, or another gear in the gearbox, it wouldn't be bad at all but stock that's my impression. And I know the definition for an overdrive gear... Point is gearing is very important for this car as its a very light car with low power and needs as much power out of the gearbox as it can squeeze (especially at higher speeds). I'm even thinking about swapping the final drive ratio of the manual out for a higher ratio for a little more pep in the higher gears. EDIT: My post was mostly in reply to @Hardrock4445 who mentioned "6MT gearing is a bitch", which is a stupid thing to say. The gearing on the MT is far superior IMO (at stock power levels at least). |

well an auto (almost) always has a greater amount of drag internally and therefore delivers less of the power to the wheels.
6th gear is too large of a split from 5th to be used for spirited driving, you never really drive this car hard above 4th gear anyway, 6th gear is alot like the 5th gear in the first 5-speeds, meant for low RPM at freeway speeds for fuel efficiency. |
