In general I would agree with you on this. However in this case, I would disagree. Mainly because the BRZ has all the those items, so no additional design, manufacturing cost. I think the add distribution cost is very low in this case. Although I still hold out hope for such options, my money is on no option for the climate control, push start and heated seat for the initial release. Will wait and see.

Overall this has cool me down a bit for this car. May be 2014 model will change, who knows.

the video with the interview with jack hollis he said this scion will have alot of dealer add ons as opposed to other models in the scion line up.

Unfortunately, all these whiners are still gonna cheap up and not get the extra add ons, they just want a reason to complain and troll.

All ths back and forth is tedious.....cheap this....cheap that....

The reputation of dealer addons (versus a factory install) has always been questionable -even when they use factory parts there can be issues with install quality. What's been the experience with Scion in this regard?

Honestly i couldnt care less about minor things like a push button start, fog lights, and other little things. At least here in the Usa Scion is bringing us the 86 around the same time the rest of the world is getting it. Toyota could have kept this car a Japan only car. Who cares if it's being sold under the Scion name? It's still a Toyota. You can always swap the badge if it matters that much to you.

And if i'm not mistaken, the Frs shown at the unveil the other day is a production "prototype".

One of the best posts I've seen in a while - Welcome to the site sir.

I am extremely excited about this car and I'm grateful that they are keeping it simple.

And for those who are unhappy with the fact that it's going to be sold as Scion in the US - If you love Toyota for whatever reason, it's because you have respected their decisions in the past. Have some faith. Scion is still new, and TOYOTA feels as though this is how they need to sell the car.

I went from being very unhappy and disappointed about this car about 2 months ago, to just bouncing off the walls in joy about it now

I love it!

I'll take the cheap one with added lightness. I don't want all the options that add weight.

What gets me is how people continue to complain about the options. Guys, come on. Toyota and Subaru developed us a 2600-2700lb rear-wheel drive sports car that will out handle almost anything on the back roads, for an affordable price. You want fancy fog lights, leather seats, and all that? Buy a 370Z or G37S.. but you won't get the handling like the FR-S and BRZ will have. I'll be glad to take the car with as little options as possible. I'll take premium sound, but that's about it. Yeah the Alcantara seats in my tC RS3 are amazing, but am I going to be upset that to keep my costs down, I won't get them in my FR-S? Nah. This is a driver's car, let's keep it that way.

the only problem is the assumed lack of CHOICE. not even having the ability to pay for the option, because its not even offered, is what disappoints me.

and buying the BRZ is not an option. i prefer the styling of the FR-S so im sticking with that.

Well of course, I'm doing the FR-S too because it's cheaper and I personally think it looks more aggressive. Mine will be without fog lights but I'll just add them later when I feel like it, no biggie to me. Plus modding a car is fun, so hey why not have a little fun with what I'll have and slowly transforming it to fit me, ya know?

Wow guys... just wow seriously, are you guys SERIOUS?
You wanted a stripped(not really but compared to Subaru, it is) car and SCION will be providing it. It will come cheap with a nice price so the enthusiasts can MODIFY THEIR CARS TO THEIR LIKING and have a bigger budget doing so.

Why dont you guys keep up the complaining. Save up for a nissan GT-R or a ferrari where you dont have to mod many things and it comes ready made. Where is the fun in that? You get the humongous torque and HP with a hefty price.

Its like playing a RPG game where you start from level 1 with nothing in your disposal. You want to to be the max lvl and get the best equipment out there but once you do reach that level it gets boring after a while.

the max level here is like a Ferrari or a lamborghini or it could be your fully modified scion FRS!!! but the different between this is that your scion will start from level 1 and not the max level. At least you will have a great adventure with your FRS and have some bragging rights.

cliffs:
- Scion gives cheaply priced cheap FRS
- Phaggots complain of its cheapness
- We all know this will cost less than the subaru
- This car is for enthusiasts( it truly is compared to the Subaru being offered with a navi as standard)
- Get the FR-S, it looks good, it looks fast and you can make it fast as well with a BIGGER Budget
- You mad?
- You aware?

serious post is serious
