I don't need to keep up with a Mustang GT, but I would like to not get beat off the line by a RX350 hauling the whole family.
How do you think I'd feel getting smoked by my gf in her RDX?

They're talking like it's going to mutate this car into a 1976 firebird (my first car lol) by adding more power to it. BS. It already has a good diff in the rear, a good f/r weight ratio in which you can just move the battery to the rear if you're that nuts about it to help offset a little of the weight. The car will be more exciting, playing with the throttle is going to give you more tailout fun or pull you much harder out of those turns. We know it, Toyota knows it, they're just trying to save face at the moment.

I don't think the SC would weigh 100lb by itself either, but as Sparkie mentioned, the intercooler would add some weight, plus if there is a factory optioned SC model, it will not be as simple as adding the SC. Guaranteed it comes packaged with other goodies that will also add weight (larger rims, bigger brakes, air dam, side sills, etc).

Well..supercharger setup with a cf hood and front quarter panels, and move the battery to the trunk?

The hood on the Subaru is already aluminum. A carbon fiber hood is just bling, not really removing too much weight. Moving the battery to the trunk after adding a whole supercharger system will definitely help out redistributing to the proper ideal weight distribution.

With how much a carbon fiber hood would cost, you'd see better performance gains from low-weight alloy wheels.

There is a 170-horsepower Lotus Elise in the States?

While i do want to keep my FRS n/a i think it would be fun after a while to add a supercharger. Don't want loads of power but then again id have to see after long term ownership.

You know Toyota makes supercharges with intercoolers built into them, air to water if I'm not mistaken....

Keep the cooling without all the piping... They run about 4 grand from trd but you get a warrantee with it as well, usually plug in, new serpentine belt, reset ecu, and you drive away, no tuning shops, if it breaks or the engine does, Toyota replaces it all under warrantee.... Great buy IMO

It's been posted several places. A quick google search provided me with several results. Here's one from Car and Driver. It appears the hood is aluminum on both cars actually.

As we’ve known for quite a while, the Subaru BRZ and the Toyota GT 86 will be nearly indistinguishable. Instead of pointing out things they’ll share, like an aluminum hood and every other major body panel, let us focus on the differences. Badges, for one, will be a differentiator, including those on the nose, the tail, and in the centers of the otherwise identical wheels. Lighting-element details differ on both ends, as do the cars’ front fascias, but the only noticeable difference in the rear is the Subaru’s lack of a spoiler and its smaller exhaust tips. Each brand treats the fender insert at the base of the A-pillar differently, with Subie opening its up to a large speared vent.

Im curious about this as well. I want to autox, road course, and DD and was thinking about staying away from FI since it might kill the DD part of it. Hopefully there will be a FI section when it comes out to determine which is best for that set of uses.

It seems like that will be the case, and I hope it is. More options are a good thing.

I can say for an absolute fact that an Eaton M24 weighs 11.5 lbs. It might be a little small for our purposes though.

Wouldn't that be inefficient though, designing two different types of F/I for the same engine? I could see this being true based on subaru's current use of turbos, but it would add cost to a project that was a joint effort to reduce cost.

To those talking about turbo lag, with modern designs and smaller turbos it's not the issue it used to be. My 07 wrx has pretty much instant power all the time, and it's ony got 224hp.
