Hopefully this is more than just gossip, if there is a TRD charger consider me in. I think 275hp in this car would be excellent.

I'm actually having a really hard time deciding if I would want the SC or not...

On one hand, 230hp without a turbo/SC and after some mods should be a good amount to make this car chuckable, quick around the corners, responsive and controllable. But at the same time, I'm worried if I go for the SC for the extra bit of acceleration, it's going to add weight and ruin the car's dynamics.

I think I'll just have to wait and test drive both versions, along with waiting out the consensus on these forums about modding the NA to make a little more power, and see which one I fall in love with!

That said... I would still love to do the ITB build I mentioned in another thread! :P

This car is all about driving fun. More power does not negate that as long as the driving dynamics are not adversely affected. There is no such thing as too much power, me thinks

It's nice to have the power on tap, while not killing throttle response. IMO 275 hp would be the sweet spot.

but again i might just be happy with the car stock for a year or two then start add more power.

Being realistic here... you guys are already talking about 275hp and what feels good yet you guys haven't even driven it.

I've driven the 2012 GT-R, E92 M3, new BMW 6-series... and lots of other cars that make heaps of power.

Take the E92. It accelerates great, has a great sound, love shifting at 8500 rpm (one of my favorite V-8s of all time)... but it doesn't feel urgent. Awesome car to be sure, but I feel a lot faster going 2/3 the speed in a 170-horsepower Lotus Elise.

You get used to high horsepower too. The only exception is maybe the GT-R... the launch control is insane. But say like a 300 hp Evo--after awhile 300 horsepower doesn't do that much for you. I was feeling "meh" after driving a 300-hp Mustang V-6 after awhile. You always start wanting more horsepower after getting used to it, and it never ends. I mean even after all the cars I've driven, one of the cars that stand out most to me as enjoyable is the Miata. That's why I want the Toyota 86.

Its strange aint it? among the powerful cars we have driven, the one that stays in your heart that gave you the most joy was the small underpowerd little thing.

Like the girl next door, or your childhood love. You could screw the hottest women in the world but none will touch your heart like that girl from past that couldn't compete with those other women.

i have driven plenty of cars, fast, modern, comfortable, ect..., but i still dream of the shitty Datsun 260z i had when i was 16, and it only ran for a single summer.

Well I haven't driven it yet, but 250-275 hp with...220 Ft-lbs? In my mind it would be like Ronin's Exige and I'd be thrilled

I agree in that I dont want to drive a boat with ridiculous of hp, but I'm just not sure that a SC will negatively change the dynamic of this car that much. For example, I think a reasonably SC'd miata would be just as fun/if not more fun than an NA miata. I think there is potential so I think we should see where this road leads before writing it off..

+1 to a supercharged version. Adding 100 pounds or so won't throw off the cars dynamics or handling much at all, but getting that 0-60 time under 6 seconds would lend a lot of credibility to this as an all around sports car and not just a fantastic handler / drifting vehicle. I don't need to keep up with a Mustang GT, but I would like to not get beat off the line by a RX350 hauling the whole family.

I don't really think a supercharger is that heavy.

It's not the supercharger itself that is heavy, especially if we're talking about centrifugal superchargers (which I hope it is, just due to weight/space). It's the intercooling which typically adds the most amount of weight to the engine.
