I shoot it off with a stream of water. If there's anything gritty in the poo, it could leave scratches worse than swirl marks.

bird poo will definitely leave a residue.

I use Turtle Wax Bug & Tar remover. Got it from Walmart. follow directions. I've removed plenty of bird poo and other residue with it. I use a microfiber cloth to wipe and another to polish it. If I'm feeling generous, I use a spray wax and finish it off.

I keep all that stuff in my car just in case.

Because of the high acid content of bird bombs, they can etch the clearcloat within hours if not removed. Best thing to do after you've gotten it all up is to neutralize the acid with either a baking soda and water or a 1:1 mix of alcohol/water. What is actually happening during the etching is pretty interesting actual, I'll just copy/paste...link is on my phone, stay tuned...
