How to spot clean bird poop or dingle berry?
 

I just picked up my Raven FR-S yesterday and I just noticed this morning I got a huge splotch on my hood. It's either bird poop or one of those weird berries. The car I really clean beside that one spot, is there any way I can just clean that spot without washing the whole car? There are definitely seeds in it so I need to to be careful to not get the dreaded swirls. What would you guys recommend?

Get some 3M abrasive remover...bird poop also does not stick to my paint any more after putting the Nanoskin Shield on..matter of fact nothing bonds to it now.

Wipe it off carefully. If necessary use bug&tar cleaner. Instant detailer or wax the spot.

Wash it, just wash it. Then wax it and enjoy the extreme shine.

I use the thickest, softest mf towel with no borders I have ever used.

Maybe get it wet/damp. The idea is to pick up the goo rather than smear it off. If there are really a lot of seeds and scratchy stuff you can also get an ice scraper or one of those fake "credit cards" or something similar to slide under the poop, then use the towel to pick it up.

I just use an instant detailer and a super-soft microfiber cloth to lift the crap off and then use another part of the cloth to clean-up the residue.

I was thinking about buying it and just leaving it in the car for when I spot bird poop. It looks like this is an all surface cleaner. Would it be too rough to use on paint?

I've been using the Costco microfiber towels + Meguiars quik detailer to spot clean some stuff

Just build a 'dam' around it with a microfiber cloth and soak the poop with a good detailer (I use Griot's Speed Shine). When it's soft, just gently wipe and lift it away. Use plenty of detailer, it's got lubricants in it to keep the scratches / swirls away.

If the poop dried on it may have already 'etched' the clear coat. You may need a polish or Meguiar's Scratch-X to remove or at least level out the etching after poop removal.

In both situations, wax the area afterwards. And keep a good coat of wax or polymer sealant on the car to minimize any future poop-related damage.

If you live near the ocean, watch out for seagulls - they are the worst. They can coat an entire panel with one release! Very acedic also due to their diet. I got hit twice at one show - beautiful venue on the beach but... one hit went into my door panel through the window channel, took several hours of disassembly, cleaning and reassembly. Never again!

This is the best idea. Also you can soak a towel in water and place it on top of the bird debris, let it soak up the bird poop for a minute, then clean using a quick detailer and a clean microfiber.

I would also suggest getting car opti-coat'ed, I cleaned off a bird poop or paint blob from a paint truck (I really couldn't tell, it was completely white). Used Microfiber cloth and damped it a little with warm water, and just wiped right off in one swipe. Looks just as new as I picked up the car.

use some detailer, i keep a small sample bottle in my glove box, but if its etched into the paint you might need some swirl remover.
