Same thing for me, emailed him right after he posted here about the new power wire option and then a couple of times since and then a PM and no replies...

Just tried emailing him again, I can understand he's probably been busy hopefully this time is the charm.

Great thread
I have two questions

1. If I buy SVXdc's harness, does that plug directly into the radio or the plug from the car? Is the plug from SVXdc, a true plug and play so I don't have to cut any factory harness?
2. I am using the Rydeen Duo so I can simply wire the power for the camera into the harness?

Thanks for your help guys

Yes, no cutting, either places the pins in the existing harness or get the one that plugs between the existing plug and the stereo.
2. I am using the Rydeen Duo so I can simply wire the power for the camera into the harness? Yes, see my post:

So curious more than anything else...

You guys all are going to take your cars apart. You will need to ground a bare wire. Why is everyone so hell bent on getting an unnecessary adapter?

Not to dis SVXdc or anything, it's great he offers this, but if you are already determined to dig into the car this much, what's a little extra effort in pushing some wire through some holes? I didnt' do any cutting or altering of the original harness, radio, etc, so going back to stock is easy, that's the number one reason for this kind of harness, but if you don't need to do any of that?

Seems like a waste of money. If it was for a device that was truly plug/play, like a different rear view mirror or something, I'd "get" it. But I don't get it!

So you don't have to hack into the stock wiring. The harness provides a plug n play RCA composit input and power. Ground wire comes from the aftermarket camera and can be grounded anywhere without cutting existing wires.

I prefer to leave stock wiring alone wherever possible.

Oh wait, you didn't cut any wires? What'd you do, just strip the camera wires and connect to the HU through the harness blanks?

Yes, look at my link above. No need to cut anything.

Interesting... but isn't the head unit connection male? So you're shoving the bare wire through the harness and making a connection of wire to male pin? That stays in place with no problems?

Look at the second to last photo in my post. You'll see the camera pins on the left most holes, orient your connector like mine, and stick them in, the power is the red wire right next to the gray one.

As for how to do it, strip them back about twice the length you actually need, then fold it over exactly in half so the tip of wire comes back to the jacket of the wire.

Then roll the end which is now a loop over about a 1/16 of an inch. Use a butter knife or something to get a nice solid bend in it. This will give you a "fat" tip that you cram into the connector, make sure the jacket goes a bit in as well.

You should see the wire just hit, or even just barely peak out the end of the connector. The male pin from the radio will "pierce" this and make a very solid connection. Use a simple hot glue gun to hold them in place as the pictures show. That's it.

I literally used a dollar store hot glue gun, the glue comes off easily enough if you need it to, but sticks very well and won't damage anything or work loose.

If the wire is very thin you may need to fold it over thrice.

I've done connections like this many times for around 20 years, never had one give out on me.

One last thing. If the wire pushes back when you put the plug into the radio, you made it too fat. Fold it over less, or on the last fold, cut a few strands off. Even if you don't fold it over, it will most likely make a plenty good connection, just want to be sure of it.

Thanks for the description. I think I get you. Does it matter which of the two wire goes where from the camera. I assume there is a + and - from the camera RCA.
I just took another look at the pic, look like pink on top (next to red and gray) and bare wire on the bottom

Yeah, ground is bottom, + is on top. I used an adapter that I had laying around to make it an rca connect so I didn't need to break the camera rca cable. Any RCA style cable will work, every DVD/VCR/Console comes with them so they aren't hard to come by.

Just mounted the Rydeen Duo to the trunk and am waiting for David to reply to my email regarding the 16-pin connector. Hope I get the wire by next Friday so I can install the harness next weekend.

BTW, how was everyone able to aim the camera to face straight back? I tried several attempts to get the lens to face straight backwards, but just not to confident about it. I might have to fiddle it again once everything is installed...
