i have never said the frs is lame. my point is that its a budget sports car. some people need to pull their heads out of their asses and realize its not the only acceptable method of transportation.

So the answer to your statement is pretty much nope.
how about we not be biased. where was this comment when it was made about the civic? are you implying the civic has a smaller aftermarket than the rx8, or that it looks better than the civic, or that its more reliable than the civic? the rx8 does a lot of things better than the frs. its easy for you to see how wrong my overly asserted statements are but then there are times where people are ranting about how an frs is better than a ferarri and there is little objection.

you guys can continue to criticize me for not having such a distorted perception. that doesnt bother me. i just dont understand why when the op shares his decision and how happy he is, everybody tries to tell him he is wrong.

I used to love Hondas, still have a soft spot for them, but man they've lost their way. I remember at the last LA auto show I saw the concept BRZ and a 2012 Civic Si. I was dissapointed. No HID lights?! Not even projectors???!!! Come on Honda can do better than that. Especially, when the likes of Hyundai are bringing what they are at the price point they are. Everyone up'd the ante but Honda seems to be waiting for something that's never going to come.

I saw a brand new Civic Si 4 door today. The only reason I knew it was an Si is because of the badge on the back. I too agree that Honda seems to have lost its way. After I flew past it (lol) and I was staring at in the rear-view, you could barely even tell it was a new Civic; much less an Si. It just looked soo ..generic.

I dunno.. in an age where companies like Hyundai and even Kia have genuinely made leaps and bounds in quality, performance and looks, it's just sorta sad to see the car that was once the pinnacle of "sporty yet fiscally responsible" seemingly headed in the opposite direction. But that's just my two cents.. we're all car guys here and everyone is certainly entitled to their own likes and preferences

I would like to point out that while the 2012 Si's were disappointing, the 2013 Si's are significantly upgraded, especially the Si Sedan. Better front and back ends, redone rear lights, a more sculpted hood, way better interior re-design, soft touch higher quality interior materials, lower cabin noise, thicker windshield, better handling, and better steering response. I'm not saying all these things puts the Si on top, but they made an impressive, swift, mid course correction. I would say its competitive at least. To really dominate, they need a 300 HP AWD Type R Hatch!! With red floor mats!!

Are they behind on headlight tech? Sure. But it's cheaper to buy. Could the suspension be better? Sure. Its no BRZ in the corners. But... I can fix those things somewhat... new lights, new suspensions, etc. I have no freaking clue how to turn off the BRZ engine chirp. I have to admit, I didn't like the way the BRZ made all these noises.

The main reason for the BRZ trade was the lack of utility and the realization that I didn't want a pure purpose sports car, but a fun, well rounded daily driver. My choice was easy once I figured that out. If I didn't get the 2013 Si Sedan, I would have bought a hot hatch I think. Same reason I didn't go for another Si Coupe. I want a smidgen of utility with my pocket rocket. I want to be clear though, I did have fun in the BRZ, I just wanted a bit more practicality and that K series engine. In the end, I don't want to focus on what I found negative about the BRZ, I want to remember how fun it was to dive into corners

Part of why I made that video is that the coverage on these new 2013 Si's is a bit slim. They must of just came out not long ago and a lot of people still associate the 2012's negativity with the 2013's.

After watching the video, I came to the conclusion that he felt that the Civic Si was a more comfortable, more practical, better looking inside/out (subjective) 200hp daily driver than the BRZ. That's the key - it's a better daily driver. Argue all you want, but having 2 extra doors, a slightly higher ride height, backseats designed for actual people instead of oompa-loompas and more cargo capacity does make it a better daily driver, relatively speaking.

My point is, if you're a car enthusiast and you call yourself one, you have to appreciate cars for what they are even if they're not what YOU would buy. Take the Toyota RAV4 for example - it may be slow, basic and boring transportation....but it is fuel efficient, has a lot of cargo capacity, it is very reliable and it has a comfortable interior. This makes it a success in my book, even though I personally wouldn't buy one since I'm not in the target market (and even if I were, I would rather get the 2.5L Mazda CX-5). I put myself in the shoes of a typical RAV4 buyer and looked at what he or she wants out of a CUV, and the RAV4 meets or exceeds all of them.

In this case, despite some of the performance shortcomings of the Si compared to the BRZ, it is absolutely more comfortable (as a whole), more spacious and more practical...and it comes with a moonroof (and backup camera). You could even argue that it is more reliable, and I think you'd find it hard to disagree with the Civic's track record.

While I disagree with some of your points (BRZ looking like a toy, Si shifter being better, Si seats are nicer, etc), on the whole I can respect your decision to trade the BRZ for an Si sedan.

So true, it's like music, I know a good singer when I hear one even if I don't like that particular song. The BRZ sang just fine I just didn't like that type of music.

I am glad you found what truly suited your needs. I am disappointed that you have left the brotherhood, but, you have to drive what fits you best. I remember when I got rid of my Acura RSX because I needed a four door for the birth of my daughter. I bought a Corolla XRS and was happy for a time until both my daughter and now my son can ride in my FR-S. Rearward facing seats just don't work period. I have to say that I prefer the handling characteristics of a RWD car. Sure, I love the sound of a Honda engine in full VTEC wail, but, I love how connected with the road I feel compared to every other car that I have driven. Good luck with your choice, I just don't think that I would follow the same path.

Yeah I saw that one, it was one of the two good reviews on YouTube that are up. But none of them did the Sedan.
