Everyone has to cover their ass some how. That's pretty standard practice and to be expected.

I don't buy anything from the dealer though... All my stuff is aftermarket and there is a ton of it for this car brand.

Wow, 41 pages of:

Well, not all of it but A LOT....

My $0.02.

Scion was created by Toyota to bring new customers into the brand as a stepping stone for future Toyota model purchases. When people are saying "Scion ruined the car", you need to get your info straight and say that Toyota ruined the car for the US because Scion is Toyota. The FR-S is the low spec which didn't surprise me at all. Look at all the other Scion models and you should've seen it coming. When was a standard Scion model ever released that had leather, heated seats, dual CC, fogs etc? Ummm....never! Now it does leave the opportunity open for FR-S RS1.0 to have some of those options, because like all other Scion models, it's probably pretty safe to say there will be Release Series of the FR-S as well.

If someone wants all the extra goodies standard as part of the car from the factory, I'm sure your local Subaru dealer would be happy to accommodate you. I just though of this too, what if Toyota is "testing the water" with the low spec Scion version to later release the GT-86 a few years later with more bells & whistles a la JDM version. What was that? Did Toyota just get you to buy a Scion to later move you into a Toyota model?

Fog lights will definitely be a DIO (dealer installed option (accessory)) just like every other Scion model. One or possibly two spoilers will be available too. I'm sure they will also have upgraded wheels available like 18" TRD's if 17's are std. The HU looks identical to the current 12 tC's with BT built in. The other options will be the Alpine unit & Scion Nav. It would be sweet if they made Entune available as a DIO, but wish in one hand and s**t in another; see which fills up first. I wouldn't be totally surprised to see the LSD as a TRD option as well. The normal carpet floor mats, cargo mat, cargo net, all weather mats will be available. TRD exhaust and CAI will probably be made too.

Price guess: $22,995 including freight. Do I get a cookie if I am right?

P.S. I bet there's 43 pages now since I'm done typing this...we'll see when I click submit!

A lot of people here are saying, "If you don't like it, switch it out later," referring to HVAC, head unit, fogs, etc. I'd personally rather go for a higher spec car up front and get what I wanted, and factor it into the purchase price, than get the car and have to keep saving up for aftermarket parts.

Just me, though.

EXACTLY! Thank you.

That might be a demo mode like the BRZ video from Hachi.

You could be right though. Stupid if they do white face with white illumination though.

If that is white it will wash out and look stupid at night. I've never seen one work well. It's why I've been against the white gauges from the beginning. (that and I think it looks stupid with 2 black and 1 white)

I remember all the Nissan guys that bought cars with white gauges searching for the black face ones because of how horrible the white face ones were at night.

Luckily the BRZ gauge will swap right in there

Yes. I would. Because I'd probably have to spend that amount of money anyway to get all those things in there. I'd rather have that $4000 separated across my auto loan and not have to buy it all straight up.

But you know, that's just me.

do you remember when scion was first announced? they made it sound like they would offer all these cool parts. and what ended up happening? a million ricey appearance mods and mild springs/sways, etc. sure there was that tC SC kit, but that didnt last long, eh? the point is that scion never lived up to the hype. instead scions were being bought by old people and girls. yes we all know factory stuff is "worse" than aftermarket stuff, but what's different here is that scion as a brand is BASED on the whole idea of a monospec car and you add these factory parts. if these factory parts are worse than aftermarket, then WTF??? what does that say about scion? that its all about appearance? if you go through the options, you cant help but get that message...

now the big catalyst here is that the FT is a scion. if THIS car can't reignite the brand, then im afraid it is DOOMED for failure...

^ doomed to what exactly? have a nice front engine rwd car? who cares if this ignites the brand i would rather it be a low key car that gives the sleeper status. just my opinion though.

That was before the tC came into the picture and started breaking every FWD track record across the country. It wasn't until the tC that options like an LSD even appeared on the Scion option catalog.

You don't really find performance stuff for the other models. Only the tC.

^Good question.

I was thinking, if Cosworth came out with a built N/A block for this...dang that would be nice.

Where did insideline get this info about under $30k? That's supposed to be good news for such a basic coupe?

In Japan is the key word. This is not a guarantee that these things will be available to Americans.

Tada admits the car won't satisfy everyone, and he's fine with that. Toyota broke with a long tradition of designing by committee to deliver a car rendered by sports car enthusiasts assembled from within the company, he said. They focused on driving feel, not on numbers.

Unless Scion is gonna offer, HIDS, LED daytime running lights, auto AC, push button start, and the overall upgraded interior available in the BRZ and 86...then I am cool with them. At least give us the option. You know they are not because they would have said so already. Subaru and Toyota already said there will be two trim levels. Scion said nothing. But we already know how Scion rolls..monospec. Its part of their DNA.

It's the details that pissed me off with what scion did to the awesome Toyota 86. They ruined the interior.

This is America, that's what we do, we complain when we don't like something.

I got no hate for anybody on here, even the complainers. This what the forum is all about, to voice your opinions.
Agreed 100%. But be careful, you might be called out because you want the same exact car Japan and Europe is getting. Or that you care about the performance AND the looks. Oh oh, how dare you?

We get the cheap versions of cars all the time. American's get screwed over and over and over again and we all seem to take it up the ass and say thank you for giving us the inferior version of your great JDM car.

Screw that. The Japanese can afford the JDM but American's can't? I find that hard to believe.
