i also can't for the life of me understand the flood of complaints. scion shows a model with mostly standard equipment and not a lot of option equipment, and all of a sudden we get 34 pages of people saying "scion messed this car up. scion messed this car up." honestly you guys are all gonna look like morons when they announce the available options and all the extra crap that you were complaining about the scion not having is gonna be available as options.

Anyway, might anyone know what these buttons next to the dash are?

I would guess trip odometer settings, dimmer settings or programming the shift light

This is the formula people should follow. Very good recommendation with a clean fit, AKA Neat 'N 'Tidy.

OOOHHHH!!! New trend announced here!

"Hello sir, that is my brand new FR-S/BRZ you see there...Oh, you like my BBS wheels?...Why thank you, I didn't expect so many compliments...What do I call that look?...Nobody has told you?...

It's called

Except that Focus have most of their weights on the front and the car is driven on the front wheels. Torque steering through a corner is just nuts.
Which is why they don't make Dodge Viper and Ford GT into front wheel drive.

I'm totally digging the way they made FRS. I want to buy that for cheap and look for parts from crashed BRZ / GT-86 later when kids wrap themselves around light poles. That way, I can pick and choose each part going into the car. Needless to say, Scion badges will disappear, even if I have to tape the steering wheel to cover them.

I don't think of it looking cheap, it is affordable. The car has all the right stuff where it counts.

Did you guys notice that the inner front fenders are cut outs? The metal is gone and it looks like the plastic inner fender is the the only thing between the wheel and engine compartment. Weight savings right there!

Jesus. If this is what we have to look forward to for the next month until Detroit I'm not visiting the forum. For everyone of you posting that you're pissed and hate it I think you're forgetting we don't know the price yet AND the available options.

Be patient for all the facts or STFU and GTFO until Detroit.

For buyers like me who don't like to upgrade to aftermarket parts unless it add performance to the car, I don't want to waste the money. Scion always think they can make profit because youngsters will upgrade to their poorly designed add-ons. Most of the young tuners don't buy that shit anyways. Only the old grandmas and stupid women drivers fall those sales from dealerships.

I totally agreed with you that stock turbo cars are more reliable and I am really not a fan of add-on turbos either. That is why I will wait in the future when the BRZ 2nd generation will have a turbo version if 1st gen does good in sales.
Because if you think about it, if Scion comes out with something nice as a "standard" (ok the word again is "standard") the price is only going to go up...

If they made the "standard" low end, and have the "option" (here is the new word "option") to upgrade, then the people who can afford it can... While the people that can't can still get this "driver's" car... Because they want to buy it to "drive" it and not live in it...

With that aside, who's to say they won't have options for the two tone stuff / stitches with different colors? We've seen samples of it... Who is to say they won't have push to start and such?

The people complaining about complainers are doing it because they (complainers) are not open minded enough to think about the long term / aftermarket... They are not open minded enough to wait for a full options list... They are also not open minded enough to think if Rearco sold bucket seats to Toyobaru for this car as a standard or an option, it'll cost more than if you gone out there to buy it yourself...

You said you don't want to waste money buying non go fast parts... Well, if you got any flare parts as standard option you've just wasted your money...

One example is this... TRD contracted Stoptech to produced the BBK for the X-Runner for IIRC almost 3K... The same kit can be bought by 3rd party vendors under the Stoptech name for about $500 less... So long story short, keep the car as simple as possible, the money you aren't spending on the car can all go to aftermarket...

If the car's price is more affordable because of it, for the people that HAVE money to blow, WHERE IS THE BEEF? Can I haz some of your monies?

I'm just interested to see if this new torque steer killer is actually going to work in the car. They had it before, watch top gear review on the old focus ST. He drives it around and shows there's no understeer in the corners

Jesus does not approve this message

....the only things that are different in the center console are the hvac controls, the stereo headunit where there are gauges on the jdm version, and the grey tach as opposed to white. both the automatic hvac and extra gauges are confirmed optional equipment in japan. is it really that hard to understand?

Ok after reading every post.......yes EVERY post, I think I can understand the frustration with the interior. I don't think it's the fact that Scion de-contented the FR-S, because I think most will appreciate the fact that it was done to keep price down. I do believe that it has to do with the fact that Scion put zero effort into NOT making it look CHEAP. I mean this interior belongs in the 12-16k price market for new cars.

On a more serios note. Ichitaka05, you mention the driver was an inch or two taller than you and that the rear seat had like 2" of leg room, but you don't mention how tall you are.

So many pages of posts, i need to wake up earlier

So yea, the usdm version gets butchered, who couldn't see that coming... and we'll be paying the same price for less. Same story all over again. And talk about those color names, come on, this isn't a disney movie. Scion branding of this car is killing its image.
