It is removable, washable, durable, thick, and attaches very securely with Velcro.



I've never worked with interior pieces before so it is looks iffy, let me know.

Wear is my concern too. But if you wont be selling maybe a diy with list of materials plus a rough outline of the process would be nice

Well looking at how worn the mat has become after 8k miles, this is going to wear as well. That said, this piece is fairly easy to produce, looks great, and protects the mat. I'd much rather make a new one of these every two years than source and replace the stock mats.

Don't worry about it looking soft or weak, it is fairly thick and stiff. I was quite surprised with its strength, especially in two layers.

I know. i wear dress shoes everyday and my mat was toast after like 2k miles. Im at 18k now but put in a rubber piece like the other diy thread. but this looks nicer i think.

1. Make a paperboard template for the bottom piece:


2. Measure desired difference between the two. I went in about 1cm (1/2 inch or 3/4 would look fine if you want more black to show:


3. Make sure it all fits and aligns well, then print off the 86 logo and cut it out carefully


4. Cut out the materials and make sure they align and look how you want them to:


5. Attach velcro strips to the back and apply to mat and enjoy.

Lastly, I used some fabric bond strips that melted with an iron. Don't worry, it's not cheap and once bonded they cannot be separated.

Alright, now I have a matching one for the passenger side. Looks much better, I decided to go with the piston emblem for that one.
