I Made a Driver's Side Floor Mat Protector, YAY
EDIT: I also made a passenger side one as well!
SO I was kind of sad because after 8,041 miles my floor mat was looking rather awful. So then I got to thinking and after seeing this project: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25376 I thought I could do something similar but went well with the red inserts on the seat. So I picked up a few items from the arts and crafts store and made this, tell me what you think. Included are a few photos to show how I made this little thing.: http://s22.postimg.org/hlnf6xals/floormat12.jpg http://s22.postimg.org/d9ythx3ow/floormat11.jpg http://s22.postimg.org/536tqcdm8/floormat10.jpg It is removable, washable, durable, thick, and attaches very securely with Velcro. http://i.imgur.com/sotRsXH.jpg http://i.imgur.com/olqwTck.jpg 1. Make a paperboard template for the bottom piece: http://i.imgur.com/yIFVMmL.jpg 2. Measure desired difference between the two. I went in about 1cm (1/2 inch or 3/4 would look fine if you want more black to show: http://i.imgur.com/8iSQlmw.jpg 3. Make sure it all fits and aligns well, then print off the 86 logo and cut it out carefully http://i.imgur.com/D9BTskn.jpg 4. Cut out the materials and make sure they align and look how you want them to: http://i.imgur.com/YIQ63tl.jpg 5. Attach velcro strips to the back and apply to mat and enjoy. Lastly, I used some fabric bond strips that melted with an iron. Don't worry, it's not cheap and once bonded they cannot be separated. I've never worked with interior pieces before so it is looks iffy, let me know. |
