I didn't want to start a mt is better thread. Not even close to my point. This car is amazing in auto. I wanted some clarity and I got it. For those of you who are criticizing me for texting and driving I say that to include everything I do on my phone. Navigation changing music anything. It's bad but it's reality. And I do it minimally in my car.

Oh wonderful, more people posting about texting while driving in traffic. Please do us a favor and stop texting while driving before our insurance rates skyrocket.

Seriously, just enjoy the damn car!

I can't stand this. The most I do is change the volume on my phone while its still in my pocket (side buttons) because my stupid volume changer on my audio unit doesn't work with my phone....

Texting and driving is just as bad as drunk driving in my eyes. Seems like half the assholes who cut me off and who generally pull stupid everyday california driver $*** are texting...

Please do everybody a favor before something happens and you end somebody's life!

In reality the only times I've ever had an oh sh*t moment with the fr-s is when I've been messing with my iPhone and the Bluetooth....

:P I resent your slush box comment! Haha jkjk. No its true though op I have my FRS in manual mode almost all the time and in traffic found myself wanting a clutch... drive the Miata, problem solved. I'll be honest dez it was an availability thing to an extent largely because I had no option I needed to get out of my car badly and the negative equity on a used car would be awful if I was going to go underneath I needed to love the car. And I do. After driving a manual FRS I actually dont regret the auto... its nice when I have my significant RIDING in my car to be able to argue with my hands (hah) and or hold hands adjust knobs etc. Not that its too hard in a manual but theres times when its nice. Rather haveit and not need it. To be honest were it not for the Miata and turbod Tiburon I wouldn't have bought it in auto. I probably would've bought an f350 7.3 actually. I miss my Miata though. I'm twenty so maybe energy in traffic is nice w a manual?

In fact some dealerships that didn't have manual tried to sell me an auto on that argument. After sitting in traffic for 2 hours in my auto I thought I was going to lose it. Not only was I bored silly but I was constantly on my phone texting Facebook he'll even browsing these forums. Don't get me wrong with my manual I still text and drive sometimes but wow in the automatic I was glues to my phone. So bored I tried to drive with only my left foot. It was pretty funny haha. I have put on 8k miles and a lot of traffic. Hell all kind of traffic. The fully stopped kind the get to 30 mph then stop and on and on. The mt keeps me engaged. I am almost find it therapeutic haha. Am I alone in this? I'm 23 and healthy so is it an age thing? Is it something with older cars? The light clutch?

So what is the hatred for manual in traffic?
Totally feel you! I just drove back on 91 hwy from Torrance back to Corona, 55 miles with 2 hours heavy traffic, but I still enjoyed my MT Fit on the way back. If I have a AT, I won't be enjoyed that much of it.

What exactly is there to enjoy if you're averaging 25MPH? I mean, in ANY car? I can see if you were talking about the 210 West, where you can do 90 about any time of the day. But a two hour 55 mile commute at 25MPH? I partly got rid of my 300HP 05 Mustang GT because there was hardly any opportunity during my commute to actually USE that 300 HP. Oh, and my stang was an MT. I just don't see the point of creeping forward with a clutch for TEN minutes just to go one block in Santa Monica on a Friday night.

Unless it's uphill and in traffic, I don't care. Otherwise I'm a pool of sweat as most people assume that every car is automatic; especially on hills.

On topic:

I agree driving a manual in traffic isn't bad at all. I don't mind it in the least.

Agreed, I had some stupid bitch almost kill me yesterday while I was riding home from work on my motorcycle. I always keep my head on a swivel when I'm riding and watched her go from the far right lane, across two lanes and almost into me. Fortunately I saw her coming and was able to mash the brakes to avoid her. The whole time she did that she had her head down playing with her phone. Needless to say she got somewhat scared when I pulled up beside her flipping her off and screaming at her. She gunned it and took off on the next exit. (the exit was off of the left lane).
