How's the drive using traffic? Manual tranny only

I was stuck in 2 hours of traffic on Friday in my 2010 Gti with a manual tranny. It a great car with an awesome manual transmission, the complete opposing my s2000. I made me think about how bad or good the frs/brz would handle in traffic....

Oh and please keep the flaming from people who bought the auto transmission to a minimum. You get better gas mileage and don't have to worry about traffic.
Let's leave it at to each their own. PLEASE!

couple things: first off, while i don't have my 86 yet, i do have a 6 speed that i drive every day (delivery driver) so i have to deal with rush hour almost every day. manuals get better milage than auto, actually, because you can better control the rpms. if the twins are like my mini is, then it should be good in heavy traffic. just let the clutch out, let it roll onto it, nice and smooth, not using any throttle (though that depends on the road angle)

edit: i apologize if this seems rambling, been drinking, and will edit this post if i can't understand it when i sober up

the 6speed in the brz isn't a true 6 speed. fyi.

i came from a 2011 sti and driving that in traffic was just annoying. while the clutch wasn't heavy you have to compensate with more throttle on that car, further more that 6-speed in that car has such a huge rpm drop between 1st-2nd that in traffic crawling in 2nd is hard because it bogs.

i was stuck in NYC traffic in the brz, and i crawled in 2nd the entire time with no issues. the clutch is so light that my foot never really got tired.

its not bad compared to other cars that i've driven, especially non-stock clutch modifed cars.

Got to admit, that my Honda's had smoother easier manuals than the FR-S. However, I don't mind driving the manual in traffic. However, I hate driving in traffic period. Actually driving a manual makes it better, because it gives you something physical to do. I suppose if I had the auto, I would just fiddle with the paddles a lot.

"overdrive" IS a gear! in 6-speed 5-speed,and 4-speed manual gear boxes,6th,5th,and 4th are overdrive gears respectfully,in ALL manual gear boxes! '"generally",5th,4th,and 3rd gears in respective gear boxes are "direct drive" gears 1 to 1, and ALL gears below those gears are "power" gears,or acceleration gears!

yes but coming from an sti six speed this is by no means the same. i understand its still a gear, but it isn't designed as a performance six speed like the sti thus its not a TRUE performance gearbox.....lets just leave it at that.

have to be honest, don't believe i have ever seen a gear box with 6 "power gears!"
generally one of 'em is an "overdrive" gear! and the next lowest is "'direct drive" 1 to 1
just sayin'

The AP1 s2000 had horrible low end torque and and my GTI has great low to mid end power so the two manual trannys have different power bands.
