I noticed white and black is most popular, I myself ordered the silver even though I haven't seen one yet..

does the silver look good??

It looks...

um...

silver.

Actually, It's a good base if you want to add custom color coating or fades on top of it.

too true but silver can look ugly on some cars. Some colours look better than others..

I love hot lava but I had a blazing orange metallic dc5 before my 86 so didn't want to repeat the same exterior. That said, I've always liked the orange under yellow lighting. I think people just don't like colour. Most days the traffic just looks dull with the blacks, whites, silvers of the world. I always look out for the greens and the yellows etc.

I don't think this orange is that current of a trend. If you look around there are plenty of 10+ year old cars painted a similar color. A few I've noticed recently are 350z, Honda civic and fit, and mazda6. If you pay attention its not as uncommon of a color as you might think.

I personally hate burnt orange....err..."hot lava". It is just a hideous color that was likely made when some persons kid colored on black ink with an orange marker and it turned the orange one darker and for some strange reason that person thought the color actually looked "good".

That is my opinion on the matter.

Anyone know if any other cars besides the 86 had come in this exact color. I know the other scion models in hot lava are in fact a different color. I remember reading somewhere that because all 86s are made in a Subaru factory all of the colors offered are Subaru colors. I haven't seen a Subaru painted this color

Don't consider this a stupid question. When I went hunting for my FR-S my first choice was whiteout, second black. What I found (still on the ship) was a MT Hot Lava. I'd seen the color in brochures and thought it was okay but wasn't my 1st or 2nd... so I made it my third, since it was available. I've seen both whiteout and black in the flesh and never have regretted buying my hot lava -- it is definitely my first even now after 9 months

As far as I know, the FR-S/86 is the only car using the H8R paint code. The other Hot Lava Scions are 4R8.

I really like my hot lava, even moreso since it's an uncommon colour. Then again, I have the only FRS for 100km around, so I guess any colour would be uncommon...

Mitsubishi Eclipse? On second thought it's close but not quite...

Nissan used something similar I think, the Z's and Muranos spring to mind although I think I've seen a Versa in a similar color... Mini/BMW have an outrageous orange as well as Chrysler (Challenger/Magnum/Charger?)

I got Hot Lava because I wanted the Toyota specific color. If I would have gotten a BRZ it would have been in World Rally Blue, the Subaru specific color.

I don't get compliments on the car very often, but I get overloaded with compliments on the color. I love it.

We love our Hot Lava FR-S . I agree though, this is such a beautiful color but have only seen a handful of them.
