Running low on gas

So on my way home today, I was very low on gas and wasn't sure if I was going to make it to the gas station I like going to (only one nearby that sells non-ethanol). As I was going down the interstate my gauge went from barely touching the red E line to even with the E line, so I was getting nervous on whether or not I was going to make it 10 more miles. I ended up making it to the gas station (whew!) and after filling up I put in 11.775 gallons of gas. So apparently I had 1.425 gallons left in my 13.2 gallon tank. My gas light came on right when I left for work, so I made it 38miles before filling up. That last tank of gas total took me 341 miles.

So with all of that said, I thought I would open up some discussion about the most amount of gas folks have put in their FR-S on a single fill up? Most miles out of a tank of gas? Has anyone ever ran out of gas?

Put 12.5 gallons into mine yesterday. Needle was way past the red line, about to fall below the letter "E". I was getting nervous, but didn't run out. Got 280 miles out of that 12.5 gallons with E85 and a mix of city/highway/spirited driving.

The most I've ever put into the car was 12.81 gallons. I was sweating bullets on that one.

Typically I go an extra 20 miles after the light comes on, and my typical fuel up is ~11.9 gallons.

No Shell. The closest station to me is in Huntersville, at the corner of Sam Fur & Beatties Ford Rd.

I got almost 400 miles on one tank, that was when I went to AC for the big meet . Dash said I got around 35 mpg even with sprinted driving.

Gotcha. I wish that was close to me, but it's too out of the way for me living in the University area.

Thanks for clarifying.

Reminds me of years ago an acquaintance of mine had bought a new Mercury. I asked him what kind of mileage he was getting. He replied he didn't know as he had never ran it out of gas!!!!!!!!

The website lists one on Old Concord Rd & WT Harris:

http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=NC

[ame="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=8533+Old+Concord+Rd,+C harlotte,+NC"]8533 Old Concord Rd, Charlotte, NC - Google Maps[/ame]

Might want to swing by and see if it's still there offering non-ethanol.

Driving the desolate stretch of I-10 between California and Phoenix the other night, I missed the last gas station and ended up running maybe 60 miles right around EMPTY. The last 20 I slowed down and drafted off a truck, which was giving me mpgs in the mid to high 40s. I ended up going 408 miles on 12.16 gallons. Lots of leeway!

On a related note, I see that the car's computer overestimates average mpg per tank by about 5%. Sound about right?

Mine says that I average 31.9mpg...but when I calculate my total drive time, I've travelled 16,810 miles & burned 548.355 gallons of gas = 30.66mpg. 3.9% off.

I have to deal with the crickets because the nearest non-ethanol station around me (according to the site) is one in a yacht club, which I am not a member of, the other one is a good 45 minute drive near nowhere I would visit, and is only 90 octane.
