I've never heard of auto transmissions being bullet proof compared to manual. I just highly doubt it would hold up given me driving the auto the way I would drive a manual, that is to be squeezing performance out of it and downshifting frequently in corners etc. etc..

I commute 425 miles a week in thick SF Bay Area traffic... in a manual.

In my humble opinion, unless you are buying a new Audi, Ferrari, Mercedes, etc etc. that has the bones behind its production to install a sophisticated auto transmission that is strong and designed to abuse it (and can shift faster than the blink of an eye)... buy a manual.
This being said, even if I was in the market to buy an Audi S5 for example (i wish), I would still be really hesitant in buying the auto over the manual even though it is better in basically every way in this case. The way you connect to the car with a manual transmission will never be replicated by an automatic transmission, and the feedback from the car is critical as a driving enthusiast. Just my 2 cents... LONG LIVE THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION. But seriously the twins should not even be sold in with an auto transmission. (Yes I drove an auto FR-S, fun? yes... but not even close to the same experience as a manual.) |

I would be surprised if 99% of the ladies knew where to find a 200HP tire under the hood of your car or that the 6 speeds are mounted inside the glove box.

They'd be more impressed with the version that shifts itself.
