TRD Air Box-- A look at the photo indicates that the accursed sound tube has been removed from the equation. I don't know about the rest of you folks, but I want to hear all the real engine sounds even if they're more subdued. Notice that the TRD unit eliminates the bend from the air-box to the throttle body. I'm guessing that a straight path is better. The Mass-Air sensor is relocated. The filter panel looks like it's mounted diagonally in the bigger box, greatly increasing filter surface area. Any notion what filter is used? Is this a mod from another TRD/Toyota pat?

I'm not sure if there is another application for the filter used in this kit, but the part number for the filter alone is PTR03-18132. In addition to the straighter path, there is a nice radiused exit (think velocity stack) on the throttle body side of the airbox. I'll buy one when they are available to my dealer here in Canada.

Edit: Thanks to F1point4 for the pics.

I've noticed a few on ebay in the $300s. Even if this doesn't give much HP, i'm hoping it increases throttle response. IMO that's the most important thing about an intake for NA engines

Already available in Canada. Contact your dealership with the parts number. We already order one for customer yesterday.

Thanks for that. I just checked last week, and no dice. I'm putting my summer wheels back on tonight and heading to the dealer in the AM to get the reprogramming done for the sensors, so I'll check again.

Got mine Wednesday and installed it this afternoon but haven't had time to log anything. Installation took about 20 minutes.

Any differences like weight, sound, throttle response or Butt dyno? Did it come with a plug for the in car sound tube?

I'm in the NY Finger Lakes area. I ordered mine today and the dealer expects it on Tuesday as well. When he ordered mine the regional distribution center had 16 in stock, so in my region they aren't hard to come by.

I still don't get how everyone talks about "real engine sound" as a reason to remove the 'sound generator'. It's not like it's a lie, that's intake noise, right there. Feel free to say you prefer exhaust noise or whatever, but that's intake noise...
