Can we call that a warped recall campaign ?
Mine is in transit since last friday and should arrive next week. If mine is warped too, do I need to contact my seller ( FA20club ) or the maker ( Borla ) for a warranty replacement ? Will I have to pay for shipping return to usa and customs fees in double ?

Could probably fix all these flanges in 5 minutes with a belt sander. I do this on most of my parts anyway just to ensure a perfectly flat and clean mating surface for rtv and gaskets to ensure no leaks. Shouldn't have to but I just assume flanges will be warped on aftermarket parts.

Got my replacement header in today, first thing I did was check the flanges...
The 2 bolt flange is pictured here, the bolt ears are warped outwards, and the pipe inside is actually sticking out PAST the flange about .35mm In the second picture you can see the pipe sticking past, and you can also barely see it in the first ![]() ![]() The other side of the flange ![]() This isn't too bad, I think it should seal up.... but still, flanges should be FLAT. ![]() This concerns me, I do not have any gaskets to test with, but it almost looks like this area that has been ground down is very close to where the fire ring on the gasket will seal. ![]() Opinions... should I try to run this or ask for another replacement? ::edit Another fun fact, the 2 flanges that bolt up to the head are not even. If you place the header flanges down on a straight table (marble, thick glass, etc.) one flange will lay flat on the surface and the other one will only have a corner touching. The flex pipes will take care of that I suppose, but it makes me a little dissapointicus as the flex pipes will then always be "tweaked" to take up the insconsistancy |

Chris at Borla emailed me back today and offered a fair enough solution in my eyes...said I can install them now and run them until the next production run is completed. At that time they will send a replacement and I can swap it out. I really don't want to do the install twice and I also don't want to buy two sets of gaskets but at least I can run it until the next set is ready and I can tune my car with the header installed.
I was happy that he acknowledged the problem and addressed it promptly with a workable solution. He said the expected date of completion for the corrected parts is 04/22 but in the past they have pushed back the initial release date a few times so I'm planning that it may take longer.

Same here guys. My replacement header arrived and the header to overpipe flange is still warped. The others are flat but ground down more than the first one. What the fuck, Borla... its clear to me that they aren't even checking these before sending them out. This is embarrassing and inexcusable. If they knew nearly all of them would be bad until the corrected 4/22 batch was done, they should have stopped shipping them and just hoping customers wouldn't notice that they have warped flanges until they installed them and sprung leaks.

I didn't pay $620 for almost flat flanges. I paid for flat flanges. I'm not going to go through the trouble of installing it and risk getting a leak and having to remove it again after getting a third replacement.

I gotta be honest here. Fixing them for those of you with problems or not, Borla is off the list. This is the kind of thing that shouldn't have happened at all, if proper QA was being done. That "slight" omission makes me wary of the rest of product line.

I agree at 100% with you ! We are simple amateur customer car enthusiast and you found the problem and they are supposed to be the expert in exhaust system so how come they did not found saw this before... This is not their first header they make after all. I dont understand why and how this happened with an exhaust maker with such experience behind them...

I emailed borla asking what should be done, as I don't want to play the waiting game with shipping headers back and forth hoping to get a good one.
Another issue I have is that I ordered a Perrin overpipe and received the box and there is no overpipe ![]() The aftermarket for this car is going to cause me a premature death I'm sure of it lol |
