Anybody have the Borla UELs with an Invidia Non-catted front pipe? Anybody think this will be too loud? Catback is still stock at the moment.

We have videos of this with on our V1 exhaust. It is pretty loud with a full system.

You will want a resonated or catted front pipe for sure.

Everyone who buys this header needs to check the flanges for warping before installing: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=296

Does any one in the VA/NoVA area know if this header would be acceptable for on-road use? Or if there would be a way to set up an exhaust system + header so it would pass emissions/inspections? Or would I be better to just skip the header and do the exhaust?

Putting in this header removes a cat.... I am not sure what the laws are in your state but removing a cat here in CA means you won't pass smog.

I've gotten that yeah, that was part of why I asked, I wasn't able to find much from a quick google search. I think it may be fairly similar here, but I am not very certain.

Well... with the cat removed you won't pass a tail pipe test or a visual inspection. I would just assume the answer is no, you will not pass. Most people just swap the stock header back on for emissions testing. It is only once every few years and it is a very easy process.

Alright, that's probably what I'm going to end up doing anyway! Thanks!

So I received my header today but before I get into details I want to thank the guys at @FT-86 SpeedFactory for the amazing deal and customer service. They shipped it Tuesday and I also ordered the Grimmspeed gaskets so I was surprised that everything made it here so fast.

I want to share my thoughts on the header construction as I've heard some cases of exhaust leaks and warped mounting flanges. The first thing I did was open it up and put a flat edge of a ruler across the flanges. One side seems pretty spot on but the other side is def warped pretty bad. I also don't have the additional support bracket that others have received on their headers bracing two tubes together. Also the flange that mounts to the front pipe is warped but not as bad as the first flange where it bolts up to the engine. I took a pic with my iPhone so its not great but you can see that the straight edge is touching on both sides of the flange and floating the rest of the way across with the largest part of the gap being on center.

Again, this has nothing to do with the awesome guys over at F-T86 but with Borla and the actual fabrication of the header. Hopefully it doesn't leak but I'm considering spending some extra $$ to have it machined flat before installing just to be sure I don't have any problems...then again I hope it doesn't void the warranty of the part. I don't know....Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1365119470.454634.jpg

Send it back to borla. Two out of three flanges bent. Unacceptable and you shouldn't have to fix their poor quality control problem for them after spending that much on exhaust piping.

Borla is correcting all flange issues. Contact them for a replacement. Tooling is changing to correct this on the next batch. Borla is standing behind it 100%

Can you post a contact for someone at Borla that I can talk to about this? An email address would be great so I can shoot them some pics...

Again, @FT-86 SpeedFactory has been awesome and very prompt with replies and shipping out the parts. This is something totally out of their control so I don't want anyone thinking I blame them for this.
