I've been searching around online to see if there's any more info posted on this particular failure aside from that thread but I haven't found anything.
As it stands, there was no indication given that the failure was caused by an impact. When you hit something, all bets are off. I've bent stock wheels pretty badly doing that and you know they're built to a high standard, even just for liability. I didn't think you were attacking me. Sometimes I get a bit smartass online. It's the British heritage coming out. ![]() Nathan |

Nothing on this earth is perfect. Everything has a failure rate. May it be 1% or 0.00000000000000001%. Nothing last forever.

Most other two piece rotors use a drive pin with float which allows the rotor to expand independently of the hat as well as reduce brake piston knockback. The wilwood hats are just straight bolted on there. Here's a nice post by essex that explains the difference with more detail http://www.essexpartsblog.com/news/f...ng-brake-discs And Stoptech has some pictures of their mounting system here: http://www.stoptech.com/products/rot...ch-aero-rotors and more here: http://www.zeckhausen.com/StopTech/R...eplacement.htm Last edited by jamal; 04-05-2013 at 05:42 PM. |

The lack of comments about the oxidation and surface rust evident in the cooling fins and elsewhere leads me to believe this is a non issue?
Even though it is minimal, is this not relevant in some way perhaps? |

It didn't go unnoticed but I never mentioned it because again too many variables to judge that alone.

Most likely just an artifact of getting really hot repeatedly. Most anticorrosion coatings etc don't last at track temps. I'm not sure this is the case but it's a guess. Height temps encourage oxidation as well.

But isn't this specific Wilwood mounting basically the same as the "Sprint" kit?
