This actually just happened to me today and I was on a slight incline aka my driveway. It happened when I had the car in September too ... also on my inclined driveway.

Car not getting spark from the fuels, or maybe you were low on gas?

lol definitely not low on gas, filled up on the way home from school. I can understand the engine not getting a spark but my wonder is why only on an incline will this occasionally happen? I recall reading it happening to other people on inclines

Haven't had this problem or even a hesitation now that I wait for the key-in-beeps to end.

The first time I started the car (auto w/ push button) at the dealership, it struggled for a good 3 seconds before it fired up, salesman looked concerned but I couldn't reproduce. Since then, I've had just a few incidents where it wouldn't start at all until I cycled the ignition completely off and tried again.

It's always started though, and hasn't struggled again (6500mi).

HA! I wonder what kind of TSB will come out for this problem. A lot of complaints, no absolute solution? It's best to try this everytime:

So my car isn't starting whatsoever... I had my uncle install an alarm, an HID kit from DDMTuning and DRL lights from Fuzion Teknique today.. For the past 3-5 days, in the morning, I would try to turn on the car and it would stall for a bit and struggle to turn on but eventually it would start. But now, after having all this stuff being installed, it won't even turn at all!! It's making this big... Clanking sound like a wrench being hit on metal repeatedly. My uncles both think its the starter, but this is a new car, had it for almost 2 months with 2500 miles on it...

Not sure what to do. What should we check? Should I just call Scion?

Sounds like your mods are draining the battery over night. Unhook the battery before you park it after charging it up (drive it around a bit and let the alternator charge the battery, when it doesn't start in the morning try jumping it) and I bet it will fire right up in the morning. Your uncle probably missed a wire.

As for a TSB, nobody's been stranded and I doubt it's anything other than people not allowing the fuel system to pressurize before trying to start the car.

My car struggled to start the other day. This is the second time it's acted this way; it sputtered to life after cranking instead of firing right up.

Hmm doesn't make sense. At this point your best shot is probably a dealer.

You could make a thread detailing everything and someone might come up with a solution but it really doesn't fit into this thread any more.

2200 km on my car
had this issue two times so far, once around 500km and once at 1500.

both times it wouldn't start for 3-4 seconds. I'd let it sit for a few sec and give it a 2nd try and it would fire right up.

was at the dealer today and mentioned the issue, no fix.

That's the problem with this thread, many would just want to post their problem and seem to miss one important thing: reading the previous posts.
