don't know, but it was this weekend in socal at the FT86 cup challenge. It isn't that hot down there yet I don't think. The high of yesterday was 75. The high today is in the 60's.

I think I remember seeing an upgraded radiator that also had an oil cooler built in made for the 86.... I can't find the link, though. |

What would it be heating up the engine bay? After market headers, with no wrap? Was he running an oil cooler?

To compound that, you are placing a hot obstruction in front of the radiator (the intercooler) which is also giving off heat. The overall efficency of the cooling system takes a big hit. |

Yeah, that is why I got it. All in one. Adding an oil cooler in front of IC, in front of AC condenser, in front of radiator does not sound like the best idea.
(did you see the post in my build I made specifically for you )

But yes, data logs would tell us what exactly happened. No I didn't! Where is your build thread??? |

dont jump to conclusions YET I been driving it in 90 degree weather pouding away just fine @ 10psi running lean, or ill tuned WILL make you run hotter!!! I am open on considering a radiator, but I dont like to spend the money unless i have a case for it, and at this point, I dont, but would love to justify one Turbos and SCs have different results on oil temps, and I am not yet seeing temps that alarm me, oil or water, so I am curious what phenomena occurred on this guys car...When I track, i have the laptop wedged under passenger seat data logging, I want to see your data log, showing oil iat water timing and knock first |

This just in, preliminary work today with Perrin, furthering his tunes, and testing for him on my fuel, and geography
We dyno'd 255WHP, TQ remains at 191, we're working on that too, we did get 191.8 on another run, so if I took best numbers we're at 192 TQ! -oe injectors -oe fuel pump -newest vortech compressor -10psi baseline before I push 12psi(next week guys!) -went up one size in tires since last dyno More details to come... We learned: higher or better torque over drivable range will be tested I have very crappy gas in the mountains where I live The kit is awesome, and can go higher still The better curve is perrins "map3" and the lesser one is "map1", we went thru a bunch or revisions, Jeff is an awesome guy to work with. No ego, very open, very available, easy to reach, and very easy to get results with. +1 Perrin. Maha dyno raw figure is always gonna be low compared to every other dyno, so we add no additional correction beyond basic SAE to get Wheel Hp , NOT crank only 1.5Gallons of hi-octane was mixed in to my 91 crap mix of a half tank, as we could see detonation earlier than my last visit, we didnt want to go into 93+ octane territory, and its pretty expensive, so we were careful to not add too much After reading some posts on fuel pump installs gone wrong, wastegate actuators not being installed right and blowing up motors, whatever the TQ and HP output benefits may be of the TC setups, with this SC, there is no pulling of manifolds needed, no disconnecting fuel lines under the hood needed for install,no need for oil cooler, no oil pan welding, no need to add a Fuel Pump to make 255 WHP, no need for going past OE injectors. No Need for anything beyond a stock clutch. It feels like Vortech engineered a low risk setup with a KISS philosophy, makes installing, upgrading and being up and running an easy path to safe easy reliable power with little to no risk of boost spike, since it makes 10psi at redline. Jeff's setup for my next phase of testing will be a wastegate that holds pressure at 12psi. I dont think I plan to go further than that, feels risky-like to me. Vortech makes all the parts for this entire kit in house, in america, they stock overnite spares for each and every part that is in my car and have inventory on spares and complete kits. Its a very effective model for me to work with looking forward to the least possible downtime for my build as I test out the upgrade paths. Here is a video of my dyno two weeks ago, sorry its late!
