It's just not spread out evenly around the state like you'd expect. Sacramento has a crap ton of E-85 because it's in the middle of farm country. The Bay Area has only a few stations, and I believe maybe 4 stations in the east bay spread over 80 or 90 miles have some variation of high octane. I guess it's not so bad.
can you put up some links to those forums

Valero 1009 Oliver Rd
Fairfield, CA 94534 as E-85 (or higher)

I can confirm this because my buddy is running it in his 300Z
I can check price next time go up that way.

when we go FI we plan to buy 100 from sonoma race way and mix it at home with 91 to make 93. I do it now for my celica

go to http://www.afdc.energy.gov/fuels/ethanol_locations.html for a real list of e-85. most other web listings are way out of date

no in the city of santa rosa there is smog restrictions my car isnt registered to the city of santa rosa but there are a few towns like guernville or forestville or cazadero were there is no smog restrictions, parts of the county require smog some dont. my car is registered at my moms house in mendocino county whicj is a one time only smog county, read up before switching also it doesnt exclude you from a ticket only thing its good for is not having to smog every 2 years...
