What you want under the hood of a higher performance OEM variant of the AS1?

I hate that I'm contributing to the "Turbo?", but at this point we know that this car will only be offered as NA, at least initially. I would like to see an OEM forced induction variant in the future, and would like to gauge what our current crowd of AS1 fans want as well.

1. Forced Induction

2. Higher output NA

3. I don't want there to be a high performance, more expensive version

^ hahaha. I have no problem with the topic, but we have threads in every sub forum just about. This will end up like the others with constant diarrhea between the two groups of thought and then die after 8-10 pages of discussion (at best).

i dont know man. 8-10 pages is hopeful. this is the forum that when you respond to the original topic in the third page people have no idea what you are talking about

Yes actually, this is in direct response to
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3016
but I didn't see you hoping in and flaming that thread immediately, even though it is another "this is better than that" thread. So yes, I would like to see a very basic comparison of what we as enthusiasts, we as the people who are the MOST LIKELY to actually BUY a more expensive, better performing version of this car would like to see, and I want the OEMs to see it to.

I'm not asking whether people want a turbo or a supercharger or NA as the ONLY engine choice. We KNOW this car is coming out as NA, we KNOW that Subaru and Toyota pay attention to these boards, we KNOW that there is a pretty significant split in opinions about this cars potential future. We can be fairly certain that there will be a higher performance variant sometime in the future. So far no one has polled the very basic question of "NA or FI". Only your first link has any relevance in your statement. The second link was from before we had any confirmation of what engine this platform was getting, and the third was from two years ago. Sometimes when you you fail to look at those details.

Besides, we need something to argue about until the Detroit auto show.

i think its a fair assumption that the people here are voting with their huge internet egos and not dollars. i wouldnt be surprised if as little as 10% of the people here buy one at all, let alone one that costs significantly more so our votes wont be an indication as far as demand or sales figures. also, i dont think toyota or subaru care what goes on in this forum

Considering the amount of whining about price already, you make a fair point. I've made a deposit already, but when, not if, a better handling/better braking/faster version comes out, the old one is getting traded in.

Wow vito thank you so much for your great thread. It is off to being a big hit around here. Oh we have only had 1-2 of these a month. Yours will fit right in with the other "WHY NO TURBO?!?!?!?!" and flame out into oblivion. I know you think we need another thread to masturbate in, but really we don't. You aren't on here as often as some of us, but this topic is very tiresome. Please post it in one of the other treads. There is no need to start a new thread on the same freakin topic as many others.

If you have a new question, search some more then post a thread. You failed at all 3. Good job.

"So far no one has polled the very basic question of "NA or FI"."

The other threads have already covered this. There won't be any change just because you change the title of the tread or add different options. Going to be the same damn mental mind fukc as usual.

Just admit you screwed up and didn't search. The first thread is basically the same exact question minus your don't want higher performance. The second thread is just as valid as it is the same freaking question minus your no higher performance option. Those of us following the car before June already knew it would be a NA 2L. Just didn't know the exact specs until they were leaked. Sorry you didn't catch that. And the third option is just as valid, even if it is a few years old. Just shows you this topic has been discussed ad noseum around here. Please let it die. But if you do feel the need to discuss it, please discuss in one of the already created threads. Do you need me to point you in that direction?

You're right, I only searched the BRZ section of the forum. Yes I only joined this forum in June, does that mean I haven't been following since before then, no. I've been keeping an eye on this thing since it was first mentioned, at first I gave it as much likelihood of making it to production as the Mazda Kabura or the supposed S16 (god only knows how many times that rumor has been started), which turned out to just be the 370Z. I'm incredibly excited that this car is being produced, I can't wait to buy one in order to support the production of the types of car that I like. I thought just as much as everyone else that the car would be getting the FB20, which seemed ridiculous due to it's lousy performance for a sports car engine, again, very happy to see that a better performing setup was chosen. I can somewhat see your point with the second thread having validity, though it is dated, and our board here has had a massive influx of people since that poll closed. So yes, I stand by this poll, which clearly you're against, no skin off my back.

I've even argued to some extent your side of this. Particularly on NASIOC where the first complaint was "Y U NO AWD?!?!" shortly followed by "If it's not turbo and 300 hp it's worthless". Clearly those people don't understand the idea of this vehicle. RWD, great handling, and affordable. I fully support that, but I will happily pay more when an even better version comes out.

Do you know what happens on forums that get filled with people who only respond with "Use the Search button"? They slowly die off, and push people away due to the huge volume of threads and the piss poor attitudes of senior members that get sick of seeing the same threads. Heck, on supramania they have a rule specifically addressing this sort of attitude because it was driving people away. Just my opinion though.

Anyways, we clearly disagree as to the validity of this thread. Heck, you were even nice enough to put up three links that you felt were helpful, though they came with a snide remark, I still appreciate the intent. Merry Christmas

I hope there are 20 more threads like this so Subaru/toyota
realize what their consumer want when they do the research.
Obviously more than half the people want some kind of forced induction.
I want it NOW!
