right. a axle back will just replace your muffler not the rest of the pipe up front

Yea that's right, basically

cat back = replaces the pipe + muffler
axle back = replaces just the muffler

Berk Muffler Delete - most popular AB - it's loud, sounds good, high quality build and cheap. Around $300 - however it has drone

Info here:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...muffler+delete

Works Resonated Delete Muffler Delete (AKA Works AB or Works AB-R) - Similar to the Berk but has a resonator built-in eliminates drone. A little pricier at $400 - some people have issues with the fact that it's made of aluminum rather than steel but it's very light weight.

Info here (along with a bunch of other Works exhausts):
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24472

Nameless Axleback - Lots of different choices, and probably the most "brand name" axle back out of the bunch. It's pricer though, around $500-$600 but you can choose exactly how loud you're gonna be. Complete muffler delete vs. 4" muffler vs. 5" muffler.

Info here:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...eless+axleback
http://shop.namelessperformance.com/...eback-exhaust/

I think if you're on a budget, Berk is going to be the most recommended choice if you're looking for better and louder sound over stock. Most people are gonna be happy with either the Berk or Works. But, if you can afford it, the Nameless ones are going to be a better bet cuz you can choose your exact muffler size or no muffler at all. There's also a 3" pipes version which is even louder, plus offset vs non-offset,... etc.

EDIT: actually, the 3" nameless ones are out of your price range.. but the 2.5" ones are highly recommended anyway

I was gonna say get a non-catted front pipe and nameless axleback but being in Cali you might not want to remove the secondary cat.

That's gonna be extremely loud, the BC spec 2 is loud on an otherwise stock car.

Loud and cheap? Agency Power.

Wouldn't be my choice, but I know for a fact it's loud.

agreed not my choice either, I just heard AP's exhaust on @SMOKETREES car, and it sounds great, if you like low rumbly and mean sounding-I liked it!

Works is actually Aluminized Steel, but you're right it is lighter than stainless steel.

Loud exhaust

If loud and not ricey is what you are looking for you have to go with the INJEN SES exhaust.

I have bought it myself, put it on yesterday. But dammmm, that thing is loud!!!! Even more with a secondary cat delete pipe !!!!
120 db with secondary cat delete pipe at 2 meters behind the car and
102 db with stock front pipe.

The sound is nice, it's just plain deep noise, no metal, just very very deep.

Driving at 50-60 kph parts of the interior make noise because of the vibration.
You can feel in your seat as well.

All in all a very loud exhaust, build quality is incredible !! And looks awesome.

It's too loud for me, so I'm looking out for something more driveable as a DD. Also it can't produce more then 90db since circuits here in Belgium don't allow more...

I'm selling mine, but guess you're too far away...

Then you have the wrong hobby.

If you want loud, cheap, and easy to install get an axleback.
