Sound Deadening Noob (subwoofer rattles)

Just got a sub installed a few days ago and WOW there's a lot of rattle! I've read around here a little about sound deadening material, but am still a little lost as to how much I would need and where exactly to put it. I don't care at all about road/exhaust noise, I just don't want my trunk rattling with every kick drum (even on low settings). How much of the stuff would I need and where would be most effective to put? It sounds like the trunk as a whole is a rattling nightmare (with some more coming from under the rear seats). I never had this problem with my tC....

there are 4 key places to eliminate rear rattle.

1. Rear deck, you can just pull off the rear dash pad and deaden there, takes like an hour.
2. Trunk lid where the inner and outerskin come together, takes like 15 mins to do.
3. License plate, I would tripple up on deadner since we dont have lower bolts. About 10 mins to do.
4. Heat shields above exhaust. I still havent pulled mine off so I wont give input on that till I have a chance to do it.

Sounds like a plan. Do you now how much (sq/ft) I would need to cover all that?

not really, id just get a roll 30-50sq ft of whatever butal based deadner you like. I would also suggest deadning and sealing the doors to while you are at it. It will greatly clean up and improve midbass and get rid of door buzzing and rattles.

Don't have any door buzzing and rattling (yet... knock on wood). But there's clear and distinct buzz coming from the rear/trunk.

There's a quick fix for that. The rear deck has massive amounts of rattle and you can rig it up in about 30 seconds so 70% of it is gone.

From the trunk find the deck lid clip that's right in the middle (looks like a plastic hook/L - it's right under the brake light). Stick your finger in the body panel hole so that you can hook the rear deck with your finger. Pull down from there and that hook will have a gap between it and the body of the car. Stick something in that gap.

By doing this your squeezing the deck lid closer to the body and putting pressure on it.

You'll be happy you did this for $FREE$

i discovered this exact fix, .. I used a cut up old shop rag ... they are stuffed all over the trunk to muffle various possible rattle locations...

I noticed that when i put double sided foam tape on the side of the rear window brake light it helped it a lot but most of the rattle actually comes from the rear panel deck. I want to get in the back and get all of those plastic fittings out so i can just remove the rear window brake light and dynomat all over the back of it. Plus fill in the rear corner panels since there is soo much empty space which if sound deadened itll be lots better!

only the top of the brake light comes off. the rest is attached to the trim panel and will need to come off as one piece. It only takes about 15 mins to pull the rear deck trim off tho.

Once I feel like squishing myself back there ill check it out . Thanks for the help tho! See what I can do about the rear brake light in window and maybe make a DIY on how to remove it fully out of there, might need to do some cutting?
