it does look like hitler... lol, but I really like that air intake concept, cause I was thinking with the intercooler there air doesnt flow up towards the filter like originally designed.

I was wondering if I could get a custom intake pipe thats either longer or shorter, so it would be offset left or right so if I did an intake duct it wouldnt look like hitler,
Kinda like this

what do you think?

Offset to the passenger side would be easy to do, the included intake pipe puts the filter right behind that inlet, all it would take is some extra pipe to move it over a bit.

Just a little teaser bump for the new setup... Read the video comments on youtube for some small details. Btw, I'd sorry for the little bit of language at the end. I was a tad surprised on the acceleration.

Your 0-60 times should be way faster than 4.7 when you get it all dialed in. You have got way better power to weight than:

2006 BMW Z4 M Coupe 0-60 mph 4.7 Quarter mile 13.2
2006 BMW Z4 M Roadster 0-60 mph 4.7 Quarter mile 13.2

Those guys weigh in at ~3100 lbs and have 270-280 whp.

I'll give you a really good answer on the 0-60mph this weekend... And a 1/4 mile number. Doing traction-dependent testing in the winter is kindof a dumbass idea, so maybe my numbers will change when the ground starts warming up. My new tire setups (not going to tell you about something that came in yesterday...) are more appropriate than the 245 Hankook ventus tires I was using. Stay tuned...

Oh dude I know for a fact your 0-60 times will be better. The first thing we learn at the track is that tires (and temperature/condition of pavement) make a world of difference. I am guessing you will be in the 4.0 - 4.4 range.

What I would do is have a cutout that re-attaches (like the tow hook cover). On the streets it would be closed up and almost undetectable. Then before a track day I would pop it out.

Now that I think about it. It would be cool to have a switch in the cabin to "flip" the cover "inwards" exposing the vent. =) maybe a future project.

I really want to see this kit in action. I need to connect soon (will be heading up to Pure Auto for a brake install).

I did a quick stopwatch on your 60-120mph time and it was 8.6-8.8sec.
For comparison purposes:
S2000 - 17.7s
e46 M3 - 13.0s
Ferrari F430 - 9.1s
Bugatti Veyron 4.95s

I'd love to see a video of your quarter mile run too. It's going to be hard without a drag radial to get the turbo spooling and get traction. 127mph is a beast trap speed though.

I was amazed at the difference that tires made on my DD when I swapped out the OEM rubber for PSS. I guess you could say that it was the first thing I learned as well.

@OP - do you ever get rainwater or debris in the vent up front?

Also - quick question that came to mind when I was sitting on the beltway. Have you been caught up in any bad traffic with the turbo on? Just wondering if the car get's hot without airflow to cool.

I put in a makeshift cover whenever I NEED to drive in the rain. Otherwise, I have the WRX for any type of inclement weather. I also experimented with a simple towel and drove 30 miles when it was raining- there was a siginificant amount of rain caught.

I haven't had any cooling issues with the car. The peak temps during the testing day at the track were actually very acceptable. Again, we had probably 15-30min between each run. The car is also running Motul oil and e85.. The car would probably be a bit warmer with cheaper oil and 93octane.

Very interesting data lol. Considering the car was only running 8psi with my testing. I wonder what the times would be with my 15-17psi setup. I'll make some videos when I have some free time.

If you want to go for a ride along with me, just tell me when you're going to the shop. I hang out there a good bit. I'll be there on Saturday, getting the new Cusco engine mounts installed. You'll also get to see something new for the car.. and I'm pretty sure I'm the only FT86er using this setup. You'll be amazed.

Thanks I'll be back up there once I get a set of bolts in for my brake calipers. I'll get in touch as see if our schedules work out. It would be cool to see in person. I'll go the FBM route if the Innovate kit doesn't produce enough power.
