Not trolling, as I have been considering getting a CAI and I find these comments that an CAI really makes no difference compared to stock intake very interesting, and potentially money saving if indeed true.
Wonder if there are any Dynos on the forum that show this to be the case.

I think some people seem to forget the stock intake setup is a CAI. It draws air from the exact same spot as the Perrin CAI.

This ^^^ I bought the Perrin CAI mainly for the sound and to get rid of that ugly looking stock airbox. I think the Perrin CAI adds a negligible amount of horsepower if any but I do feel it makes the car more responsive more than anything else.

Depends on how you define better. Better performance? Probably not. Better sound, subjective but to me yes (at least the Perrin, which makes a woosh should absent in the stock airbox). Better looks? Again subjective, but unless you're into lots of black molded plastic, accordion-like piping and useless tubes cluttering up your engine bay, I would say definite yes.

Same can be said about my exhaust mods as well. Am I squeezing out every last bit of hp gain on my daily commute to work? Probably not, but I do love the sound it makes when I rip the throttle on those on ramps and I don't miss the anemic-looking stock exhaust tips either! But to each their own; if you have the coin, do what makes you happy. ;D

Relax.

No ones trying to hurt your feelings, just save your wallet. There is just no benefit. You're money is so much better spent on john's tune. It will easily make the engine with stock airbox sound more mental than any intake too in case you think a subjective sound is reason for an intake.

You probably get the flu shot after becoming sick too huh?

Edit: if enough people request it, I'll put my stock airbox back on the car and record some second gear pulls running Visconti's latest tune and you can judge the sound for yourself. I can assure you my takeda intake adds next to no noise at all but if it'll help the naysayers, I'll swap it out

Yes, because 90% of the time you get an URTI it's not due to the influenza virus.

Just because something worked well on one model of car does not mean it will work well on the next model. Our stock intake just happens to be a very well designed one that is hard to improve on.
