I wish someone would make a cold air intake that didn't mean taking the front off the car to clean it, or risk busting it taking the short cut. |

I'd be happy with an improved snorkel that runs to the stock location under the bumper cover. That way your only removing the bumper once.

How would you improve it? Could you maybe mod the stock one or make your own?

Sold my iphone but my friend took this picture the other day!
![]() i'll try to get a close up tonight. Sorry for the long weight. I still have some more sanding and welding to do on it to make it look perfect. You might be able to load the full size image in another window and zoom in. This approach makes it almost look like the stock airbox has a small nub. I'll later be making it flush with the box! And just painting that side of the box a matte black with the perrin logo white. |

46mm dia seems too small considering the size of the throttle body. By leaving the 2 x 29mm holes open that is equivalent to having a 61mm dia cold air intake which still seems a bit small but is a big improvement. |

I just went out and had a look at mine and that snorkel doesn't look long enough to get right across and past the radiator. If that's the case and it's certainly the case with pod filters there, it doesn't matter. The air it draws in is in front of the heat exchangers and part of the high pressure pool of cool air they draw through. The only time it would warm up is while it's stationary before the thermo fans cut in to start the airflow again. There's also plenty of room for a much larger intake to go through from the factory airbox. Do any of the after market airboxes take advantage of that? |

Even having an intake down lower where the air comes in wont get much, if any ram effect because the air is dammed up in front of the heat exchangers and moving relatively slowly. It needs to be in an area of unrestricted flow, like the ones above the drivers head in race cars, where the air has high velocity and that kinetic energy can increase the air pressure, same as the main intake on our has already done. |

I've been thinking about getting the intake tube, then removing the resonator, and doing a snorkel-ectomy. For those that have removed the large resonator attached to the airbox, how secure is the airbox with that extra mounting point gone along with the resonator?

It's still really secure, there may be a bit more wiggle, but not much. You don't have any of that extra weight there.

Also after having the resonator off and getting some more seat time in the induction noise is louder at about 2500-3000 rpms when the engine is under load. Not much difference in sound at other rpms. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD |
