I think the 1 7/8 plug is for the big resonator on the front of the airbox, the 1 5/8 plug is for the noise gen, and the 1 1/4 plug is for the little blob resonator underneath the intake tube. The hitch ball cover stretches over the airbox plug and you use a hose clamp to seal it down.

Just finished blocking off the main resonator. I already had the perrin inlet tube installed. Couldn't really get the plug to fit to block the resonator off, but the toe hitch cover worked well enough to seal it off. The plug doesn't seem necessary to me for the big resonator, it probably weights as much as the resonator too so there really wouldn't be any weight savings using it.

As far as sound goes, not really noticing much of a difference from before it was removed. The perrin inlet tube removing the sound generator made the biggest impact on sound.

I'll answer this one with a picture:

I also thought I'd add some measurements (in mm as I'm British ):

Main Resonator outlet:
Outer Diameter - 50mm
Inner Diameter - 46mm

Pipe Resonator:
OD - 30mm

Snorkel Resonator Connections (Both the same):
OD - 32mm
ID - 29mm

Basically if you want to cap them, use the OD. If you want to try and plug them then use the ID measurements.

I'm in the same boat. If I'm going to that trouble might as well get the perrin cai or an aftermarket snorkel. Although haven't seen any US companies selling aftermarket snorkels. I don't care for the max racing one, we get some pretty good storms where I live.

You don't need to remove the bumper, you can flex it enough to move it out the way. Look in the DIY section for Airaid install/Snorkel removal, shows you easily how to do it. It's a bit of a pain but possible. I've still got to re-install mine back in the car....

It costs $3,000 for one headlight assembly.
How much will it cost for a new front end if it breaks?

Thanks for the measurements. I take it you removed all of the resonators at the same time. Just wondering how much of a difference the 2 remaining ones on the snorkel make since I have already removed the others.

Yeah I did I'm afraid. I've only run without the snorkel so far as it's awaiting the caps but then I'll shove it in. The noise like that is pretty awesome though.

Sierra, there is enough flex in the top of the bumper if you want to do it that way, you just have to be gentle and not yank at it! If you don't want to risk it then take off the bumper, it will make it so much easier anyway, but it can be done without removing it.
