Gonna make some more calls about this tomorrow since we are getting close to March.

The OEM+ system is a cool setup but unless the processing/amp makes the door speakers sound a lot better i wouldn't want to spend that much money on it. The Stealthbox is a Premium subwoofer option for those that want a custom fit option that takes up very little space and is not really for those value minded(cheap) individuals such as myself.

I'm all ready for this now! Received sound deadner yesterday and amp wiring kit shipped out today. Now just waiting for the release so we can get this group buy going.

from the reviews i've read, it does in deed make the door speakers sound better. i don't speak audiophile, but something about the sub in the trunk allowing them to tune the crossovers so the door speakers provide more midrange fill and less low end bass, and the improved amplifier.

Yeah that makes sense for sure, gonna try something else myself though. We got the speakers in today and the build quality is very nice on them, should work out pretty nicely.

I can always sell the 12. It was in my old tC and was thinking of ways to fit it here. It's relatively new, replacing a 9-year-old original W3 just about a year ago.

This box looks really nice and won't eat all my (little) trunk space.

To be honest, I just took a trip to my local stereo shop that I've gotten car audio stuff from for years, and they recommended something that looked great and fit perfectly thats available right now.

http://www.jlaudio.com/cs110rg-w3v3-...-systems-93195

The CS110RG-W3v3. It uses a 10W3v3, which is an amazing speaker (my old car had a 12W3v3) in a perfect wedge box that fits completely flush with the back seat when pointing to the rear. Very minimal space intrusion. It's not a custom side mounted box, but it's likely going to be a cleaner and more natural sounding bass from a traditional speaker and still takes up very minimal space. We test fitted one yesterday and very pleased with its placement It's about $300 for the box + sub, but that's not bad at all. I was quoted about $500 out the door after tax, additional parts, and installation/wiring. I have had JL subs for more than 12 years and this is likely what I'll end up doing. Dimensions are 12 1/4" high, 18 3/4" wide, 10 3/8" deep at bottom, 6" deep at top, and 22lbs weight. A great alternative since many custom boxes are going for $300-400, and that's WITHOUT the speaker.

Note: the 12" model MAY fit, but it was just a hair too snug to fit in the back without modification to the trunk liner. The characteristics of a 10 work better than a 12 for most music anyway; especially if you don't have powerful mid speakers.

I still prefer something flush on the side. I transport tires/wheels with my BRZ when it's tire-changing season, or maybe when I start autocrossing seriously.

True. It looks like it could still KIND OF fit on the side, but it's definitely designed to sit flush against the angle of the seats. The plugs are simple enough to remove though, so you could always pop it out when transporting tires or anything else. The 12W3 in my tC was in a giant square box and I removed it whenever I needed to move large things. Side note: that tC had HUGE storage with the seats down and the hatch design... I definitely miss that too!
