I wish we had 93-94 here to even try, but thankfully we do have 92 non-ethanol and that's been quite nice in my car, nevermind I've had no crickets either

I wish I had something more than 91 here, Moncton sucks for shit like that. I never had crickets ever all I used was petro 91 and shell v-power.

I got my car october 1st and I keep hearing the crickets are worst in hot weather, so maybe it'll one day pop up on me??? Since I never drove it in t-shirt weather lol

No big surprise there. With 87 you'll get less performance and be less inclined to drive the car hard, making it less worn when it comes time to give them "their" car back.

Sorry for the stupid question: what "crickets" people are talking about?

when using 91 with 0 ethanol seems to keep things quiet.

give it a few tanks before you rejoice.

I am using Shell Vpower (93) since first tank, and the crickets sound loud and clear.

You guys say Ethanol like it's a bad thing. BTW.

Thanks Carbon420, now we have conclusive proof why 93+ aki octane is required,
IMHO.

I've been running premium 91oct with 10% ethanol mix from Chevron since I had the car and I've consistently gotten about 400km per tank. I've been thru about 5 tanks now with same results.

This week I filled up with Shell v-power 91oct which has no ethanol mixed in and I've noticed significant improvement in gas consumption and the engine feels like its running smoother. I'm only about 1/2 tank in, but I'm on track to get at least 450km out of this tank.

The only non-ethanol blend gas available in my area are the shell v-power 91oct and the Chevron 94oct. I will be trying few more tanks of the shell 91 before moving on to the chevron 94. But I'm pretty convinced this engine prefers non-ethanol blends.

Actually no it doesn't. Just looked this morning when I filled. All it says is premium only.

I wish there was Ethanol free gas in MA. I sense fuel pump issues in a few years. :|

Enjoy!
