Right gas makes big difference
 

So I'm a bit of a noob in the world of nicer cars, and knew that my car needed premium gas. So I was using premium. Not realizing that 91 octaine (the standard premium grade here in Canada) was actually 2 octain short of what she really needed. Some stations in Calgary carry 94 octaine at about 2 cents more per litre. So I ran my tank till the light came on and gave her a bit of 94 to test out if it was really that big a deal. And we'll it is. I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like running this on 87 after the differences I've noticed just from this. She sounds better she feels better and she delivers alot more now. And the comp says I'm coming in a good 1 liter per 100 kilometres less on my average. I'm not a math wizard but I think this is actually saving me a bit of cash of not breaking about even.

Read again. Never did. Said I couldn't imagine how bad it would be to use considering the difference between 91 and 94.

Subject-expectancy effect

The sticker on the inner side of the fuel tank cap of my GT86 says "АИ 98" only (equals to your 94 octane number) - so I wonder why given that if you guys fill-in tanks with your 87 and it still works :)

Seems like the factory ECU pulls a lot of timing on these cars, even on 91/93 gas. Hence the reason resetting the ECU recovers a lot of hp on the dyno. Not surprising to me that you'd notice a difference switching from 91 to 94.

Yeah I just wish someone at the dealer had mentioned something about the proper gas when I bought it. Like I said I knew she needs premium and I was using it. They should warn you you need better than premium though.

it can depend however. most people around here (ontario) can only get 94 with 10-15% ethanol and it has been not so great after a while. the crickets come to life!
when using 91 with 0 ethanol seems to keep things quiet.

give it a few tanks before you rejoice.

I really wonder if 94 would make a big difference over 91 over here. The weather is so cold I wonder if it would really effect timing retard in the winter.

"octane"

I don't find a big difference when it is this cold out, but in the heat of summer, the car does run and respond noticeably better on the 94. However, that is when the crickets rear their ugly little heads as well. Does the 94 out west have ethanol in it?

My dealer recommended regular gas
 

After reading the above, and although I'm leasing the car I still put 91 Shell into it.

At PDI my dealer insisted that I use regular 87 octane only. :confused0068:
I guess just before I return it, the gas won't matter...

So still no fix for the crickets? They'd better nail this for the '14s.

Been saying it for a while too... there IS a huge difference with 94 octane.. Always ran 94, two weeks ago had to fuel with 91.. omg car felt old.
