I can't vouch for a product that I wouldn't buy myself or haven't tested. And yes, we're Tein sponsored, but I say it how it is. |

it continues to blow my mind that people will buy budget suspension on brand new cars. i get it when you buy a 2500 dollar miata but you most likely spent 25+k on a car. an extra grand or so will go such a long way and in the over all scheme of things (30,000-40,000 in budget) its almost negligible. tein monoflex or kw v3 seem like the least amount of aftermarket suspension that this car deserves considering how sharp it rolls off the line.
if you want to get low just buy springs. if you want to go faster, buy faster. |

Already have springs, I bought some with a mild drop hoping I wouldn't have to get anything for camber correction but the car was off a degree from left to right in the rear so I had to buy lca's anyways. If I had know that I could have went with a different spring option but when I bought these I knew I would be upgrading when there were more options available.
I don't need all the adjustment that kw's offer, they are a great coilover and I get them for a good price but just because these are under $1k doesn't automatically mean they are terrible. My car might see the track once a year since there isn't one in my state, these things might be great for a DD but until somebody tests them out we will never know. I still think they will be better than the bc/ksport/Megan type stuff. |

I've been contemplating getting the Tein Basics for a little now. Though I do tracks days when I can, but I mostly drive on the street. I'm a firm believer that for a street going car coils are VERY unnecessary. But what draws me to these Teins is that they're none adjustable, which most people don't need, they're rebuildable, and it's a product from a quality company. I'm currently on stock struts and Eibachs sport line springs, but this setup perform surprisingly well at my last track event. I want the Teins because they shouldn't be as harsh for street use as some of the competitors in the price range, and in my eyes, they're pretty much just a short stroke suspension system. And if my stock struts and lowering springs can hold up to a hard weekend of running Sonoma Raceway then I'm sure these Teins would do just fine.
Tein does say that the Basics are for those that are into the "stanced" scene. Since most aggressive wheel setups require you to run coils. So I'd say Tein has them for people that don't need track worthy coils, but need coils to run the wheels and lower height that's so popular these days.

My only expereicne with the Tein Basics was on my Honda Civic EG hatch. I previously had Neuspeed Race Springs and some shock which was super slow and super stiff. I installed the Tein Basics and the ride was a ton softer and I actually dragged my APEXi N1 exhaust more often because of the softness. The difference in ride was night and day and they made for a much more comfortable daily driver. I would say these are for those that want to lower their car while maintaining a very soft and comfortable drive.
