Yes. Check your owners manual. There is a 3750 mile box, but oil and filter replacement isn't checked until the 7500 mile box.

That being said, I changed my oil at 2000 miles. For break-in, a short interval is not a bad idea. But overall, the common perception that oil should be changed every 3000 miles is way outdated. It was true for engines 30 years ago that used dino oil and had large manufacturing clearances. But todays tight tolerances and synthetic oil are why manufacturers can now recommend 7500, even 10,000 mile oil change intervals. Those could probably even increase, but filters and detergents in the oil have become limiting factors.

The dealer swapped mine at 1000 miles with no problems at all. I like to keep my oil clean and fresh especially since this car is known for high oil temps that rob power.

Probably not, only because I don't like the position of the filter. I think it's too much of a hassle to have to remove the front bumper to install it or take it out to clean the filter.

I bought my car from Daniel at Irvine Subaru. I haven't dealt with the service department much yet since I only have 1,500 miles on the car. I called them to schedule an appointment for an oil change at 1,000 miles, but they said they wouldn't recommend doing that and to go back when I hit 3,000. Hopefully my oil wil be ok until then. I think I met you at the Evasive meet a few weeks ago. I'm Brian's friend that had the blue BRZ there.

great looking car, and nice mods.

I wouldn't be too worried about putting the car on a dyno after 1000 miles. It's basically running up to redline in 3rd or 4th gear. If you've driven up to redline on the street, you've basically done the same thing already. Not against changing the fluids first as a precaution though.

Thanks!! I have redlined it a few times while driving already, but I'd still rather wait until I change my oil to put it on the dyno. I'm sure it would be fine to do now, but I'd hate myself if anything were to happen to my brand new BRZ lol. Another 2 or 3 weeks and I'll do my first oil change. After that, she'll be going on the dyno!

I'll be honest...I thought taking off the bumper would be a real pita but after doing it I'm so happy I did. The whole process takes about ten minutes to remove the bumper and 5 to put it back on. The difference in power is immediately noticeable though. The sound is pretty awesome too. I've done a ton of mods and isolating each one, the intake was the biggest bang for the buck. All my cars in the past the intake hasn't made nearly as big of a difference as this.

I've already installed the Overpipe and front pipe and intake and pulley...have the Borla UEL and Perrin Black Catback on back order. Both should be here hopefully the first week of March. Once they're installed I will flash the ECU and dyno tune the car and at that point I think the intake will really complete the package but even now its truly amazing the difference that one part makes.

Another option is the FA20 club intake as its almost identical to the Perrin CAI system and they utilize a different filter. The maintenance schedule on their filter may be different and they say you can install their filter without completely removing the bumper. I'm a huge fan of Perrin and their parts as they do the most extensive R&D but I can understand not wanting to remove the bumper. Just some ideas.

Car is looking good bro, I hope you're loving every minute!! What's next on the mod list for you?

Thanks, I appreciate that info! Maybe I will switch to a CAI eventually then. But since I just bought the drop-in filter, I'll probably just use that for a while. Sounds like you've got some really nice mods already. Did you notice any difference after your pulley install? I've been debating on getting one myself also. I think my next major mod will be an exhaust system. I'm just not sure which one to go with yet. I really like the look and sound of the Greddy Evo3. And since I had that same exhaust on my old 350Z, I'd like to get it again. But I've heard from a few guys that it drones pretty bad on the BRZ. So I'll need to hear one in person first to make up my mind. If it really does, I might get the Perrin or Zeta exhaust.
Post your dyno results after you get all those mods installed. I'd love to see what kind of power you'll be making.
